Maryland leading by 5 with 10 minutes left. For some reason, the "thuggery" does not seem as intense by MSU as was the case versus OSU and Ill. . Not sure if it is the spacing of Maryland or if Michigan State respects the outside shooting of the Terrapins more than Illinois and OSU. In any event, less people hitting the floor because of body blows and pushing. Both teams valuing the ball with MSU having 6 TO's and Maryland having 5. Wish we could be better with our TO's.

Maryland is one of the more physical teams in the conference themselves.

My brain is a bit fried from studying and job hunting, but ... are there obvious teams we should be rooting for or against today?

Michigan State at Maryland - This one doesn't really matter, right? Both beat us. Maybe cheer for MSU to get their NET up?

#9 Iowa at #4 Ohio State - I would assume we'd root for Iowa, as we have not beaten OSU (yet), and we want that Iowa win to remain as shiny as possible? Wouldn't it also make it A LOT easier to get the 2-seed in the BTT?

Beyond that, I would assume we would just want any team ranked between 6-10 to lose so that we don't fall in the rankings! Nice start with Butler taking down #8 Villanova! I would think we would remain above #9 Iowa, given Michigan destroyed them, but #9 winning at #4 could possibly jump #5 if people were impressed enough with the win.
Maryland to win! I badly want Izzo the Demon and his band of fouling minions to miss the tourney.

Maryland is a team no one should want to face in either BTT or NCAAT. I could see them making a run to the S16. Hope they don’t wind up in our bracket.

Maryland is out-small-balling MSU, and the Spartans can't just run perimeter players out there to give fouls, unlike the hack a Kofi/Liddell strategy.

Turgeon is a good coach. That team could have collapsed after starting 1-5 in the B1G. To fight back to 0.500 by the end of the season, likely make the NCAA tournament, and to be playing this sharp at this point of the season is a real credit to the coaching staff.

EDIT: WIGGINS WITH THE EXCLAMATION MARK!

Love seeing an open court 360 to put the cherry on an MSU loss

Maryland wins by shooting 50% and holds MSU to 33%. Maryland did a great job of cutting and driving to the rim for layups. The shots we missed (I believe we were 0 for 12 on close/layup shots in the first half) were made by Maryland. They were just as physical as MSU, but this game was not as physical by MSU as the OSU and Illinois games.

Why isn't Turgeon being talked about as coach of the year in the B10? I posted this in a different thread and didn't get much traction.

Really, I’m just sick of watching B10 basketball refs let the constant grabbing and shoving go. Every single play. Can’t fight thru a screen? Just grab the guy and hold on. Gets called maybe 1 out of 10 times. Out of position for a rebound? Put your forearm in the guys back and push as hard as you can.

Before the Michigan State game OSU had been something like 50/40/84 as a team over their past 8. I think they are a really good team but thought they would have to come back to earth a little bit with their shooting. The second half of the MSU game and so far against Iowa looks like they finally have.

May actually catch a team at the right time for once this year.

It goes without saying that if OSU loses we should jump them both in the AP poll and in the tourney bracket seeding right? We would have gone 2-1 this week with 2 wins without our best player and they would have gone 0-3

Yes. We’d move into the 1 line temporarily. And a win @OSU next week could seal it.
