Illinois 76, Michigan 53 Postgame

Trent had a legit "one shining moment" type game tonight

that little run he went on in hte second half, capped off with the crossing chaundee brown out of his shoes and hitting the 3 was legendary
If you play it in slow motion, you can almost pinpoint the moment when Chaundee's soul departs his body.

This team is really coming together in the second half, 10 of 11 games. And beating Michigan on their court with their big time ranking, that's pretty nice win.

I have been known to say that many times, our players would stand around in a game waiting for Ayo to do his thing. We now see that there are others on our team that can get it done. They just needed to have their time in the light! That was obvious tonight.
Can't be understated. Funny thing is, you could tell Ayo would try to start games deferring to others so it wasn't just his show. But something about having the clear-cut best player on the court makes it tough for other guys to grab the reins, I guess. I still want to give Izzo a taste of his own treatment for what he did to Ayo, but this could all be a blessing in disguise. Our freshmen can play and this team is good even without the big two, and now everybody knows it.

Michigan showed no heart. Maybe waiting for everything to be "just right" wasn't the right way to go. As Brad says, "Bring it on!"
My thoughts exactly. They have not been through all of the hard fought games like the Illini. They had no concept of how to deal with being behind. Illinois has been there and fought back. Scrapped in close games. Michigan just folded.

Don't need to stand around waiting for Ayo to do his thing anymore. We've got all kinds of talent that can take over a game. Go Illini.

Exactly, Ayo isn't a ball hog. He tries to get the team involved. I think when Ayo gets back, the other guys will become more aggressive. and that just makes it even easier for Ayo.

We can lose and be a #1. After tonight there isn't another team outside of Gonzaga, Michigan and Baylor that has a case. Our Q1 wins, SOS, NET ranking says so
Agree. Even losing this game, win at least 1 in the BTT and it's a lock in my opinion. But let's just go ahead and win this one and a couple in the BTT!

How the hell did this team lose to Miznoz??
It was kind of like what Illinois did to Michigan. Miz's point guard came right at Illinois and got them rattled. Curbelo and Trent just kept coming at them and broke them. Geez, too hyped to type coherent sentences, have to keep editing.
