Wow. I can only imagine the crazy that this is going to bring to AAU ball and all handlers.

They're going to have to have really good coaching staffs for this to work. If players aren't developed their chances of getting paid to play after they age out is limited, let alone getting to the NBA.

There must be some one who is willing to invest ................. with the expectation that the investment will multiply at some point in time. Bitcoin. OTE.

I don’t see how this works. They won’t have the coaching, training, or other facilities to match Power 5 programs.

Especially since *cough*a lot of blue chippers get that in college anyway *cough.*

Not to mention this league has the potential to completely flame out in a year or two, at which point you have some very talented 17 and 18 year old kids who aren't eligible to play HS or college ball and don't have a direct path to the NBA. I'm all for kids getting compensated or their talent, and am in favor of allowing a route straight from HS to the draft, but this scheme seems like it could result in some very unfortunate consequences.

This is what the NCAA gets for it's efforts to shut out elite talent from anything close to market compensation. So far, college bball has stayed relevant through more scandals and mismanagement than I can count, but who knows if that lasts. If someone from the future told me that very few NBA stars come through college anymore, and consequently college bball has become a niche market, I'd believe it.
