Juan Howard is last in the Big Ten as far as compensation ... tell me that all this talk is not about getting a raise?
I mean sure we all want more money, but something tells be Howard's bank account is plenty healthy.

He will eventually be an NBA coach, it's not if, its just when.

It's interesting that Chris Beard invited Pat Knight and family plus Bobby Knight to his TT game yesterday in Bloomington. I guess nobody showed. Chris Beard has to be IU's #1 choice now that Stevens has been declared a no go. But as somebody posted he's the 3rd highest paid NCAA coach. I can't imagine IU making him the highest at around $5million a year.

He's a Texas guy. Grew up in Texas, went to college in Texas, now coaches in Texas. Indiana isn't special to him, Texas is. They'd basically have to back up the bank truck, and then Texas Tech still could match.

They're aiming to levels like it is still the 80s or 90s

On the one hand it's good that it's him and not OA. On the other hand Chin's job will get a lot harder recruting Chicago, right? Which once again makes it a very good thing this Illini staff doesn't just rely on recruiting Illinois.
This makes most sense of those I’ve heard mentioned. Seemed to be some question if he’d want to go back to college so quickly, but fits with AD and career trajectory if he doesn’t feel it’s NBA or nothing.

DePaul is in a tough spot because they’re the worst team in a fading conference. If they do happen to hire a coach who brings some success then he’s going to take another job, and all of the good players will transfer.

It’s going to take a lot of winning before people are going to commute an hour each way including a mile walk from the redline to the stadium during the winter. A successful coach will be gone before that happens, because no one wants to win in front of an empty stadium.

How is it a fading conference?

How is it a fading conference?
Using this article from 2010 as a reference... https://www.forbes.com/sites/sports...-big-east-schools-in-mens-basketball-revenue/

The conference lost: Louisville, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Rutgers, and South Florida
They gained: Creighton, Xavier, and Butler

That’s a lot of revenue teams they lost.

I think the conference was further weakened by realignment, especially when Xavier and Butler have served as feeder programs for promoting coaches to higher conferences. Creighton as well if you include Dana Altman going to Oregon.

In the meantime you have the traditional teams:
UConn - one tourney win since their 2014 national championship
Marquette - last tourney win was 2013
St Johns - last tourney win was 2015 and only won 2 in last 20 years
Providence - has 1 tourney win since 1997 which was in 2016
Georgetown - last tourney win was 2015
Seton Hall - has 1 tourney win since 2004 which was in 2018
DePaul - last tourney win was 2004, which is the only one since 1989

Villanova - has won a lot obviously

It just seems like some of those names still carry some weight in familiarity, but the luster is gone. They only had 4 teams in the tourney this year; two lost, and a 3rd was a missed layup away from losing (Creighton).

Do you have a different vibe? It’s just temporary? To me it just seems like the BigEast era is over, and fading.

Hey Sister Jean, here's another prayer for you:
Dear Lord, please don't let Coach Moser be hired away by one of the Big Ten team and their shiny new coaching vacancies.
Amen

Honest question, did something change in Moser system to go from having average teams his whole career to have ecellent teams his last 4 years?

Krutwig and Moser have the same number of NCAA Tournament appearances and wins.....
If that is really it why is everyone scared of him going to IU. Sounds like he is mound to get run out of there when he has a few bad season and a slow offense... no?

To me, him at IU is similar to John Groce here. Maybe not, but seems similar.

If he went to NU I might be more worried. I dont think he would get run our of town there and he could recuit better than a Loyola but maybe I am wrong

Very good point. I may need to not be so hard on him, but he seems to need a big similar to Krutwig to have a level of success as a head coach.
Northwestern could be a good fit now that you say that tho.

Pre-Krutwig he made 0 NCAA appearances in 3 different stops. Krutwig is a once in a career type of player for a school like Loyola
