If loyola would of missed every shot outside the paint against Illinois that game would of went way different. Anyone can win a single basketball game by either shooting way better than they normally would or the opposite with missing way more than they normally would. Amazing how often basketball simply comes down to who hits more of their open shots

Most of Loyola's baskets were in the paint though against Illinois. They only went 4-10 on 3s for the entire game vs Illinois. Today they are 2-14, but still that's not the difference between being -8 vs Oregon State, and +13 vs Illinois

Really impressed by Loyola Chicago's play against us. Today.....not so much.

And we have our first official Sister Jean sighting! I was starting to feel bad for whoever was manning the Sister Jean-cam...

Good point. The difference was Trent 1-10, Curbelo and Ayo didn't value the basketball and had 10 turnovers. That was why we lost.

I feel like I bought a ticket for "Gotti" cursed my decision through two halves and am now watching "The Godfather."

In other news...how is Loyola still in this game? Their performance has "you don't do 'x' and expect to win" written all over it.

Edit: and Vito Corleone rips off his mask and shows that it was John Travolta all along...

They scored 38 points in the paint, they shoot a % outside the paint like they did today and illinois might be the ones up 13

The difference between today's game and the game against Illinois for Loyola? Fewer jumpers fell.....

....okay that's a major oversimplification. Oregon State actually had a more effective defensive scheme but it's hard not to chalk the results of this tourney up to complete randomness.
