come on Curbelo will be on an all big ten team next year
True but 6th man sounds worse than it really is. Curbelo was basically a starter last year. Just hard to imagine Trent and Adam wanting to come back if both aren't starting and starting 3 small guards is interesting.

I live in a small college town in Kentucky that is notorious for basketball and I spoke to their programs head coach while eating lunch today and asked if he was hitting the portal hard. The program recently got a fair transfer player from South Carolina. He knows I’m an Illini fan and says “yeah I personally reached out to Adam Miller and was turned down without question haha, but the word in the portal amongst coaches is that he’ll be back in Champaign”.
Quite the way to start your tenure here at IL

A more assertive Jake would be great. Has more to give, IMO. Everyone here knows how I feel about Hutch. He's going to be dynamite, IMO (fingers crossed on his back).
Agree with all, Jake will have more confidence he belongs and will help with the new players. Plus the way he was shooting 3's in practice let's see more 3's. Hopefully Hutch gets his shot.

Curbelo starts AM/Frazier sets. Not even a question.

At the absolute least. There are already some whispers that next year could possibly be his last year in C-U.

If he plays like he did lasts year and becomes a threat from three point range the big leagues will be calling...

if he can hit threes and expand his game, he will have a decision to make. still thinks he stays three years though, like ayo did.

Probably. Depends on his projected draft position. If he's outside the top 20, he may return. Seems like a kid who always bets on himself.

I’ve never seen him practice but it seems like his shot needs a lot of work. I’m sure he can do it but I’m not sure one off-season will be enough.

He was shooting air balls. Love him as a player and honestly think he can be an All American next year, but I think 30% from three would be a great accomplishment for him next year.

He is a GREAT shooter from 3 in practice. We’re talking like can’t-miss from 3. For some reason it didn’t translate to games this year, but I think the light will turn on for him at some point. When it does-yikes. The B1G and the rest of the country will not have an answer.

The OP is talking about Papi. I believe you're talking about Jake. Apologies if I'm wrong.

* probably wrong. again, lol

He actually has great form, which is why the 3pt thing is weird. It's clearly mental. He was money at the line, particularly as the year went along (which you'd think would be more mental than an in-game 3), and that's a much better/more reliable method for assessing shooting form. For whatever reason, he seemed to (in games, at least) shoot the ball from distance such that his hand would kind of slide/drop out from under the ball, instead of following through on his form. Either way, seems like nothing a lot of repetition can't fix.

Feel like theres a pretty good chance Hutch is one of the 3 best guards on the team next year, although tough to rely on him with his back issues.

IMO its fair to have plenty of skepticism on Hutch and whether he will be able to even make it through workouts and practices. He is clearly the most talented player on the roster. If he truly is healthy and "all systems go", then I see him being a first team all B10 type of player.

Maybe most athletic. Curbelo’s handle, passing, & vision are extremely rare. To me, he is insanely talented. If Hutch is truly more talented, then we are in for a real treat.
