I have no idea why Hansen hasn't been participating. Did he have an injury or surgery in the off-season?

Epstein is not officially back. He may or may not return next year. It's weirdly been worded as "his decision."
Hanson was late getting back. I don’t think he participated in much of the spring drills although it was reported he was around. I believe it was mostly about keeping him healthy. The staff knows what they have in him so nothing to prove for him.

Really hoping my sarcasm meter missed here.

25 nfl players can beat 53 nfl players?
I think he was trying to say that the Illini were the "nfl team" that season (25 future nfl players), but college teams still beat us.

O Line depth looked a little shaky on the second team. We need to stay healthy there and I think we saw why recruiting big bodies has been a priority.
Agree. Numbers alone don't create depth. OL depth is a project . . . one that will likely be aided as much by recruiting as development of current underclassmen.

Yes. Absolutely gut-wrenching way to lose
And as aiwpfan said, on a brutally cold day (high 20s with a lot of wind). Zook had a way of losing to such inferior teams, seen in the fact that the 2010 season could have been 9-3 without the horrible loss to a terrible Minnesota team, the 67-65 game against an average Michigan team, and the loss (again) to Fresno State.

Anybody know the QB situation? Seems Peterson said Peters narrowly beat out Williams to start #1 for spring game but I don't know how much to make of that game. Peters with 1st team only and Williams with the 2nd team mostly. Not a game for Williams to showcase his legs, Peters with a couple overthrows to go along with some good ones as well, and Williams with that dime that got dropped. Had to watch at work so i may have missed some defining plays as well.

If Williams doesn’t seem like the qb of the future, due to lack of ability throwing it adequately, I hope Peters shows out and Spann demonstrates the ability to be that duel threat we all hope for, and hopefully, Williams moves to another position and thrives there for the Illini.

It'd be interesting to know how Williams hands are. If he could be a good WR or even a Tarik Cohen spinoff. That assumes Williams has interest in changing positions though. If he doesn't want to change positions I hope Peters kills it this year and Williams gets up closer to that level for the rest of his college career. Wishful thinking anyway. Admittedly I know very little about Spann and his attributes.

I'm no insider, but keeping Williams happy seems to be the main goal for this season.
I suspect Peters gets most QB reps, Williams second most, and Williams also lines up in the slot sometimes.

IOW same as last year. Peters gets hurt and Williams becomes the starter.

Spann is a freshman and freshman rarely succeed in the BT (except when they play us LOL).
I hope we can play well enough that Spann gets mop up action often.

I think that would be an incredible "problem" to have - HC BB and OC TP have to adapt their offensive concept and play calling to a fast QB with a good+ arm.

These CPatt interviews are insane. He seems very truthful. The difference between coaching staffs is so noticeable, he almost gets emotional talking about it.

Agreed. I kind feel bad for the guy! Literally seems like a night and day difference.
