Kentucky men's basketball player and NBA Draft prospect Terrence Clarke was killed in a car accident in Los Angeles this afternoon. He was 19. Early reports are that he was speeding, ran a red light, hit another car turning left, and continued on to hit a pole and block wall. He also was reportedly not wearing his seat belt properly either.

The Los Angeles Police Department told the station that the accident occurred on Winnetka Avenue at about 2:10 p.m. local time. Police said Clarke was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a red light before colliding with another car. The station reported that police said Clarke was not wearing a seatbelt correctly.

If that is true, it’s definitely a cautionary tale of the perceived invincibility we all felt when we were younger. Gotta be safe, and not put yourself in situations like that.

Still tragic none-the-less.

Any word on the other car?? High rate of speed and running a red light makes me think they met in the intersection. And if the other car had the green, they may have been t-boned, which can be really deadly.

Driver of the other vehicle reported no injuries.

Watched the video, it’s a miracle nobody else was hurt.

It’s almost like he didn’t even try to slow down. Something definitely had his attention away from the road.

He wasn’t wearing his seat belt properly, either, according to the article.

So sad and preventable. May he RIP and may his family find joy in the life lived as opposed to the life cut short.
