Plummer/Hutch/Hawkins/Melendez maybe Goode/Podz off the bench.

Young guys will be forced to develop their game when facing Trent and Damonte every day in practice. Returning those super seniors will be extremely valuable toward moving our 2020-21 culture forward, especially if we lose OA and/or Chin.

Really hope we can snag another 5 for depth behind Payne.

Hutch needs to be in every single starting lineup proposed on here.

... just gotta say! I'm ok with with Trent & Da'Monte over AM in the starting line up. I really wanted AM to repeat the Ayo story, Trent & Da' Monte put their egos on the shelf for AM. Ready for May Day to end the story for AM.

Belo/Trent/Plummer split 80 minutes at the 1/2

DMFW/Hutch/Grand split 80 minutes at the 3/4... with Hawkins looking to break in

Kofi/Payne at the 5. If no Kofi, I think Hawkins gets minutes out of position here.

Damonte and Trent are coming back, great, but I'm going to be that guy and discuss the possibility that all these veteran players are going to take away valuable development from Podz, Goode, and Melendez. I'm pretty sure all 3 expect to play right away in some capacity, so I have a bad feeling about transfers happening. Or, I'm just being "that guy" too much in this post and all 3 will get valuable development physically off the court and be ready to step in in 22-23.

2nd team subs in, worked great with Curbelo, players play at the end.

Tough pill to lose 2 AAs.

Coaches and veteran's development and integration of new guys will be tested...

we won't be rated #2 but we will be In a great spot to compete with focused development.

If Kofi stays in the draft, then you have to assume another center, and possibly a PF, plucked from the transfer portal is in the cards.

Of course I am rooting for Kofi to get what he wants, but doesn't the lack of depth at the 5 at least make you feel kinda optimistic that ship hasn't completely sailed? With all the transfers it seems to me that they would have shored up that role already if they thought there was no hope with Kofi. Man that would be so huge for this squad.

He came back for the sole purpose of breaking the big ten 3 point field goal record. The epitome of a selfish player.
Are we certain these records will be broken? Seems like it's easy to add the criteria of max 4 full seasons, and I personally don't think any records should officially fall because of the bonus year. Even Frazier, who I love, shouldn't be among the top 5 Illini scorers of all time (which he likely will be because of the bonus year).

Were Ayo, Kofi, and Ace top 50 recruits? (hint: yes)

Was Hutcherson in the top 50? top 150? What D1 offers did he have coming out of high school?

I'm not saying he's trash. I'm saying let's see how he, as an unproven recruit, shows in a single division 1 game before we crown him.
Little late on this but I would think the competition Hutch saw at the DIII level is pretty comparable to a lot of HS play. Top-end talent might be lower at times but the average talent-level and quality of coaching/play design is probably better. I'm curious why this is ignored while judging off HS performance is valid/defensible? We adjust our expectations of players coming out of JUCO (relative to their HS ranking) all the time -- why would we act any different for DIII? I'm not saying Hutch is a sure-fire starter -- I think he's really talented but I'll be skeptical until he can remain healthy for an extended period -- but we also have more to go on than just practice reports.

Yikes! We either get Kofi back, or we find out what Payne's fourth minute per game looks like!

I just want everyone to know that if Hutch ends up being a bust, I'm going to say I was in on the joke.

And if Hutch dominates next year, I will claim I predicted it all along.
