Exactly.

Thanks Coach OA and Coach RC for your efforts, however, I am sure Illini AD Whitman is Zooming Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart about the rules of the game with memories/conversation of Bruce Pearl and Kelvin Sampson.
In case anyone needs to contact AD Barnhart to congratulate him on two new hires.... try mbarn@uky.edu

I'm curious to see the contract terms when those come out.

BU released statement:

"They are dear friends who I’ll miss working alongside each day, and I am grateful for the impact they’ve had on my life, which is bigger than basketball. All the best to Coach O and Coach Chin from the Fighting Illini.”

OA released statement:

"I want to thank Josh Whitman, Coach (Brad) Underwood and everyone at Illinois for an incredible four years in Champaign. We created some unforgettable memories and took the program to new heights that we can all be proud of. I will never forget my time at Illinois and I want to thank everyone who welcomed my family and I to a wonderful place. With that said, I am excited to be headed back to Lexington. This game has blessed me with so many amazing opportunities, but the chance to work at Kentucky again, a program where we built a lot of special memories, is one I am grateful for. Thank you to Mitch Barnhart and Coach Cal, one of my mentors, for the opportunity. I am looking forward to getting my feet on the ground in Lexington and getting this going again. As we have always done it, this will be about players first, and I can't wait to work with our young men who represent the University of Kentucky."

CC released statement:

"We must accept the end of something in order to begin something new, special and different. To that end, I want to thank everyone at Illinois for the opportunity I was afforded the last four years. It was truly an honor, and I am proud of the success we achieved together. It takes courage to grow and become who you really are, and having the opportunity to coach at the University of Kentucky, work for John Calipari and be a member of Big Blue Nation is a dream come true. This is a different kind of place, one that coaches and players hope to one day be a part of. I am blessed to live that dream."

Chin’s statement pretty much says it all. It is a coach’s dream to coach at a place like Kentucky. Hope Illinois gets there some day.

Personally sick of hearing about its a coaches dream, what to ride on the coattails of what others have built? How about helping build something from nothing and making it the next Duke or Kentucky then you might have something you can claim as an accomplishment....Dont let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya...kick rocks!

No different from getting an opportunity to work at a successful, prestigious company making a lot of money vs. trying to help your struggling company come up the ranks. Not saying we are struggling but referencing your build something from nothing.

That may be a place that SOME coaches and players hope to one day be a part of. Not everyone buys into the Program Worship of the legacy powers that vacuum up much of the top talent every year by virtue of the Name Plate Logo on the door. Courageous
coaches and players want to AVOID such places and make their OWN success and legacy at a different place that wants to ascend the mountain and leave the ranks of the many forgotten.

Wonderful guys like Ayo welcomed the chance to go to a place that did not have easy success written on it like the Designer Names of Recent History and he was eager to help restore a great program legacy.

Kentucky...Duke...The Michigans...Kansas...UCLA...Baylor...Gonzaga... these are places you want to BEAT, not fall in awe of. Much respect to all the coaches and players who set off on their own course and march to their own music and don’t fall for the hype.

Great success to the guys who left the Orange for the pastures of the Bluegrass State. We appreciate your efforts. And even greater success to the guys who want to coach and play for the Orange. From this day forward may it be said... ‘ORANGE is the New Blue’. Set a new plate at the Big Table, boys

I think two of these comments are complete bushwa! Only Brad's rings true. The others were written by PR people. Pure baloney!

I think I just threw up my lunch. As much as it sucked losing OA, I get it, it makes sense.. it's homecoming. This just feels wrong.
Eh I get it. With his MIF connections, should have an easier time landing the 5 stars at UK. You get a couple of 5 star commits on your resume, think that fast tracks you for a solid HC gig.

Note, I know I just said on another thread we shouldn’t chase 5 stars, but building a program is different than building a career and I can see why Chin thinks this is a good career move for him.

Did that feel good? Because it didn’t for me

Thank you for helping us get better. You're welcome for the opportunity that UI gave you to move on/back.

Now, let's get some assistants who are ALL IN for the ILLINI!!! We don't need anymore stone-steppers unless it is on to a head coaching position.
Brad seeks assistants who want to become head coaches.

Ok, there gone. Now who comes in to replace them. I'm sure Coach has already reached out to coaches he'd like to add to the staff.
Point well made on Coach BU. Likely no grass is growing under his feet or AD Whitman
With the asst coach $$$$ tossed about to date by KU and the Illini, P5 asst coaches with recruiting moxie are watching big time.
Not To be pickie, but in Rhetoric 101... it is "they are"
. .. plus "there" is in reference to a place but the intended meaning is in reference to two male coaches which is "they".
