It brings us back to the question whether and how much should athletes be paid, whether college or pro. Is it because they deserve a slice of the $ they are bringing in (NBA) or just because they are doing the same activity as X and therefore deserve the same $ as X (WNBA), regardless if their activity is driving commensurate revenue. Letting people earn money for their likeness will align the $ with the people that earn it. There won't be demand for likeness usage of minor players and/or minor sports, male or female.

Agree, unless that minor sport athlete wins a national championship (golf, tennis, gymnastics), which is a distinct possibility...

Good to see Frazier connecting with the new recruits so quickly.
That’s a big part of this. Glad Podz is on the way. He’s a natural, high level scorer that wants to always get better. Chester will be a great coach for developing him on both ends but ImO especially defensively.

This kid looks pretty good! I think we need to get involved with this one! He's only gonna get better from the looks of it! What do you all think?

College athletes should not get paid. They are getting to play sports in college and getting a free education, that is all they deserve. Several thousand other students are there on their own dime. If they are good enough to make it to the pros they will get paid then. If not at least they got a free education, more than most.

I take it you speak from a position of experience having been a collegiate athlete?

Also, tell me why Joe Sophomore is able to start a t-shirt business and sell t-shirts while in school but Giorgi has to end his collegiate athletics career to be able to do the exact same thing? What's the difference?

Interesting because Orlando taking the credit too!
Maybe that's why Ty Ty was waiting... to see if they OA and Chin were gonna stay or go? Maybe they have been playing the long game the entire time... Waiting on some to recruits to take with them!

D1 revenue sport athletes are generating major $ for their schools. It's only fair that they should get a share of the pie.

A student who receives a full academic scholarship to U of I can still work on the side as an intern or even full-time employee without losing his/her scholarship or opportunity to attend school. Why would an athlete not have the option to also earn money while on scholarship?

Yes I did play college sports and my son was a scholarship D1 athlete for four years. You help make my point. Joe sophomore is probably trying to make money to help pay for his education. Major D1 sports athletes are getting scholarships worth anywhere from 120k to 300k(just guessing), its like winning the lottery. No tuition bills or student loans for them or their parents.

A free education should not preclude an adult from profiting off of their own name, image, or likeness
If this 'adult' is of the ability to make money off of his/her likeness out HS, then no law stopping them from heading to a different country to make that money. I mean, they are adults after all
