Only 1 year left for Hutch?
2017-2018 - Freshman @ Wesleyan
2018-2019 - Sophomore @ Wesleyan
2019-2020 - Redshirt @ Illinois
2020-2021 - Junior @ Illinois - Sat out due to back injury
2021-2022 - Senior @ Illinois

He has an additional year available due to COVID should he choose to take it, that's what the (+1) notes next to a player's name.

A question: You show AC, Hawkins, and Lieb as having 3 years left - including a +1 year. All were freshmen this past season - if they get a COVID +1 year, wouldn't that be in 24-25? Same for Kofi (not that it will matter) - he was a soph this past year, so wouldn't +1 be in 23-24?

Thanks for doing this!
The last year I show them is their original senior year. The (+1) shows that they have the option for an additional year after that season. I chose to not automatically assume that they would opt to take that additional year and instead show that they have the option. Since most players opted in to playing this year, I don't think we will see the majority of players opt for their additional season in future years as they'll have graduated and their professional stock (NBA draft, overseas, etc) will be less effected by this COVID impacted season.

It can be confusing, perhaps I'll add a note to the grid defining what that (+1) means.

Thanks for picking up the mantle doing all of this work ! I too wondered what the +1 meant so thanks for clarifying.

I think Hutch has two years left. He had two years left after his original redshirt year, and last year did not count for anyone, so he should still have two seasons to go with the Illini.

Got it. Thanks!!!!

I’m a little confused too.

Here is @BMoreIllini ’s breakdown w/more detail and Hutch’s status as he enters/exits a particular year.

2017-2018 - Entered as a True Freshman @ Wesleyan and exited a True Freshman.

2018-2019 - Entered as a True Sophomore @ Wesleyan and exited a True Sophomore.

2019-2020 - Entered as a True Junior @ Illinois and exited as a redshirt sophomore. (Transfer redshirt)

2020-2021 - Entered as a Redshirt Sophomore @ Illinois and sat out due to back injury. Exited as a redshirt sophomore.

2021-2022 Entered as what? At this point we need to know if he burned a year of eligibility being out for his back.

If he did, he enters 2021-2022 with 2 years left (redshirt junior/senior) + his COVID year right?

If he didn’t burn eligibility, add one more year on.

Please read my previous posts on why I decided to do it the way I did, I show him with a year of eligibility with an option for an extra year.

I think people are curious if his medical sit-out burned a year of eligibility.

If it did, he has the same eligibility profile as Grandison since they showed up at the same time.

If he didn’t burn a year, he’d have 2 left. (Before you apply the COVID +1)

Have you heard anything on whether his medical sit out year counted against him?

Grandison and Hutcherson both redshirted their first year here because it was a sit out year due to NCAA transfer rules. Therefore they both entered this past season as redshirt Juniors. They'll both be redshirt Seniors next year (2021-22) with an option for another year of eligibility due to COVID. Hutcherson doesn't get any extra eligibility because he sat out this year due to medical reasons because he already burned his redshirt his first season here.

Wouldn’t he be a candidate for the 4 in 6 due to the injury? Is that still a thing

From what @BMoreIllini is saying the medical 6th year is no longer a thing.
I'm obviously not the deciding factor, but I haven't seen anything otherwise yet. Regardless, I doubt he takes more than a year or two here anyway. He still has 2 years of eligibility left since this season doesn't count with COVID, I can't see them giving him an additional year on top of that.

Should Kofi's spot be open? Was watching the Katz interview of Underwood, and they said he wouldn't be back.

Alright, alright. You twisted my arm, I was (foolishly) holding on to a faint glimmer of hope that maybe he'd come back. Wishful thinking on my part I suppose lol. Here's the updated scholarship grid. Also added some more 2022 and 2023 offers to the bottom portion. Once official visits start back up I'll track them in the spreadsheet as well. As far as I know, we have only had unofficial visits up to this point.
