I just listened to Piper and Warner talking about both Chet and the promotion of Alexander. They both spoke very highly of Alexander, and I'm certainly okay with giving him a chance. Not a splashy name, but sounds like a very good basketball man, and very likable. Sounds like Antigua gave him a thumbs up as well.
Who is this Chet you speak of?

Guess we'll know next week.

not a crazy prediction at all to say we announce next week with the circling rumors. If he knows the name now he’s got a source sure. Just knowing we’ll announce next week doesn’t indicate much

I'm a tad upset that we lost our GRAND SLAM: OA! I'll have to give our new AC's a chance. I wonder if our next coach will have Chicago ties?

Who knows, but Geoff Alexander does.

You are getting off your own topic here. You were comparing our new hires to our old ACs and rating the new ones on the beginning of their tenure here vs the old ones on the end of their tenure. That is what I was responding to.

Also, Chester Frazier has a ton of East Coast ties.
Dont forget his ties to isreal.

Fans may have wanted him hired back at Kentucky, but Cal didn't do anything until 4 years later and Payne had left. And no other blue blood programs hired him. He's a good recruiter and I was pleased that Underwood hired him at Illinois and I wish he had stayed, but I don't think he's as great as many other fans do. I also think his recruiting at Kentucky was made easier by the extras that assistants can offer.
Well duh.......oa had just left to try out head coaching....as his mentor or pal or boss or whatever you give him his lease on life. Let him fly the coop. However, when it becomes apparent he is happy to be back as a superstar ac then you say why not here....

Have to say that the original person I was told sounds like it was wrong, but the timing is still there. The other smoke I'm hearing is more of an up and comer. I think he's a solid get if it's him, but he's not as well-known to the casual fan.

Are you saying our minds will, in fact, NOT be blown?

For me (which doesn't mean squat)... An "up and comer" would be a slight letdown considering 1) the multitudes that Coach Underwood said was knocking on the door, 2) the time is has taken to fill the vacancy, 3) the inherent risk of an "up and comer" at a high-major school, and 4) if the re$ource$ that were thought to be available are not fully utilized.

However, it would ease the sting if the hire has recruiting chops and/or specializes in developing a certain position (i.e. bigs).

Grading ACs is similar to Draft grades. Highly subjective and only time will tell.
