Yes. Dad was a good player Obviously as a walk on this doesn't hurt a lot. At the same time, he's more in the Jack Ingram/Brian Johnson walk on category in terms of potential.

Jack Ingram wasn’t a walk-on, he transferred from Tulsa where Bill Self had originally recruited him.
fair point. he walked on at Illinois at least at first.
I still credit Ingram with the win over Arizona to get the Final Four. Had he not tipped that inbounds pass it likely would have been game over.
He did tug the shorts of Frye to help some which kinda makes up for the Dickie Beal travel in 1984.
Jack Ingram was a scholarship player at Tulsa. He didn’t get a scholarship his first year at Illinois because we didn’t have one available. As soon as we did, he got one.
I don’t know what to think of Padilla. He played less than other walkons even though it was a free year. I thought he would get a few minutes here and there but he never did.

He’s the real deal. He’ll be top 100 for sure. I think he could go higher. I’m beating this drum. I’d love to see him as an Illini.
He also hit those 2 huge threes in the final few minutes of the road game @Wisconsin that season. Those were huge shots at the time.

First time I've read that Ames is 6' 3". He's listed as 6' on 247. Anyone know his true height? FWLIW, I'm very skeptical that he's 6' 3".
