Nice Saturday morning surprise. Sencire Harris (2022 G, #109 on 247) commits to UI.

Updated. I generally don't post updates on here when it's a minor roster update or something that doesn't impact the scholarship count. You can always see the most up to date version of it at the link in one of the previous posts. Link to grid and recruits.

You're doing an under appreciated job BMore...we appreciate it and Bear with us if we bother you with whatever.

What's your source for positions? I imagine it's different for those on our roster vs those that have just committed.

I'm asking since the official Illinois' 2021-22 Roster lists Melendez as a guard but you have him as a Forward. I was curious if that's a carryover from his 247 position or something?

Anyone know if Austin Hutcherson filed a waiver to be granted an additional year of eligibility from taking last season as a medical RS? And if he does that will he still be eligible for the bonus COVID year?

I'll update his position in the spreadsheet.

Hutcherson used a redshirt his first year here to offset the transfer sit out season. Last year doesn't count toward eligibility anyway, so I can't imagine he'd be granted yet another year for a medical redshirt. I believe this situation was discussed earlier in the thread.

Hutcherson had two years left at the start of last season.

Hutcherson has two years left now. Last season changed "nothing for nobody".

Logically - if you redshirt this past season, which did not count against your eligibility, then what do you gain? Nothing. This past season wasn’t “everyone on the roster gets a bonus year” but rather, “this season does not count against your eligibility”.

Alright, alright. You twisted my arm, I was (foolishly) holding on to a faint glimmer of hope that maybe he'd come back. Wishful thinking on my part I suppose lol.

HE'S BACK!!!! I'm quoting my old post because I think deep down I always knew he would be back lol. Can't wait for November.

My birthday is coming up in 2 weeks. Can someone please get me a power forward for the 13th scholarship? Perhaps something in a grad transfer who wants to make a run at a national championship? A more realistic expectation so late in the process.

My birthday was Wednesday, and let’s just say it was a good day.

Agreed. The missing piece.

6'8 to 6'9. Someone with bulk; our 2nd leading rebounder. And a guy who can create his own shot, and confidently hit 50% from 8-15 ft.

Is there anyone left in the portal that would fit that description? IMO Obanor would have been the perfect complement to Kofi.

If that doesn't happen, I guess it's possible Hawkins has improved dramatically and the staff knows they have to play him. I always thought he needed enough year, but sometimes kids make huge leaps between FR and So year. Otherwise, it will be some combination of Grandy, Hawk, DWilliams, and maybe BBV if healthy. Payne may play there for a few mpg, but I think almost all his minutes will be backing up Kofi. He really doesn't have a 4 skill set in today's game.

Realistically, I don't think we're getting the power forward for 2021-22. I view Hawkins in the stretch 4 mold.

Give me the 1984 version of Efrem Winters or maybe Deon Thomas.
