And we should pursue an additional 4 because that is the one position we lack depth. If we bring in someone that starts over Hawkins, we will have a comfortable rotation of 9 guys.

Kofi
Belo
Grandison
Hutch
Trent
Monte
Hawkins
Plummer
*mystery 4

And that’s not even getting to the freshmen. I’m not much into throwing out crazy expectations, but our team has the potential to be good again. It’s been awhile since we have had 3 consecutive good seasons.
Good again is putting it mildly … I think if Kofi returns, we are just as good…

With all the debate about starters and rotations it got me thinking about how the minutes might break down. *If* Kofi comes back, what does everyone think the minutes would look like in a big game (not season averages)? Here's my (definitely wrong) prediction:

Curbelo 32
Trent 31
Kofi 28
Plummer 27
Hutch 20
Damonte 18
Grandison 17
Hawkins 15
Payne 12

Some notes:
* One of these is too high, I doubt 9 players would get double digit minutes, but I don't know who to take them away from
* Damonte is probably (definitely) too low for all the glue guy stuff that he does that BU loves
* I'm buying the Hutch hype, but I still couldn't push his minutes up higher yet
* I hate putting Hawkins that low because I really like him as a stretch 4 with a knack for rebounding and help defense

Thoughts?

Ok.........................

Kofi 25
Payne 15
Curbelo 32
Trent 31
Hutch 16
DMW 19
Grandison 18
Plummer 22
Hawkins 17

I don't know how the mins add up as I just took a 4:20 timeout, but I think Payne gets more mins and Kofi less
Belo and Trent seem about right
Hutch will need to get up to game pace speed early and his mins could increase after conditioning gets better after TWO years off court in game situations
DMW will play at the end of most games b/c of length, experience and heady BB IQ so his mins could shift greatly depending on if others at his position get hot or foul trouble....
Same with Jake.............The numbers showed we were such a better team with Jake starting and playing well , but DMW got the crunch time mins
Plummer , if the reports are correct on his scoring prowess , could beef up on mins.....he will be first guard sub off the bench before the first tv timeout..
Hawkins is the unknown.....I thought he played very well in stretches and disappeared in others....showed good blocking talent and as the season wore on his confidence grew greatly......Has a very good shot technique and could be the darkhorse candidate along with Hutch to propel us to a FF........

The mins are going to be tough for the freshman and they are really talented....hope and pray they stay the course and fill in where needed and don't think about leaving b/c of mins played.......

Again , I very excited for this season's edition to start playing ......Find out Friday how dangerous we will be and adjust my expectations from there ....

Not sure if we’d play them at the same time but I feel like Payne deserves more than 12 minutes

We're gonna slaughter most teams.
Check with me Friday I might be in too! Hutch is going to help with some of Ayo's former load I think...and not sacrificing height, if healthy.

Seems reasonable. Probably too many minutes for Hutch. 3 incoming freshman combine for 0 minutes? We won’t have them in 2022 if they don’t play... 🤷‍♂️
I don't necessarily disagree, but I don't see us going deeper than 9 in a big game, especially later in the season, and it would probably only be like 4 minutes for a 10th man. Who sits for a freshman?

If they don't get a few minutes...we didn't recruit well.

I think at least one of them (don't have enough info to predict which one) will play in most games, but could get squeezed out in big games that are close

Most likely we won’t escape the year injury free either. That might help spread out the minutes a little bit. If we can develop Payne, Kofi might be a better overall player with closer to 25 minutes a game. Might keep him out of foul trouble too.

True, and BU will probably trust Payne defensively more than Giorgi, so that would let them give Kofi a little more rest

For me it's slaughter these teams in order..

1) Indiana (They will always be my #1 hated team)
2) Miznoz
3) Iowa
4) Michigan
5) Kentucky if we meet them in the Tourney.. if UK even makes the tourney.. *derp*

Everyone else I'll be fine winning by any margin.
