Honest question for everyone...

Did ANYBODY have the Nebraska dude Blanton getting drafted????

That tells me all I thought about the mentality of nba GM's is correct
Dummies...
Being from Toronto, as well as the first Canadian ever drafted by Toronto, couldn't have hurt...🤷‍♂️

Yeah I know that but after watching him play a couple years in the B1G , I doubted he was B1G material.
Soft and very loose handles
Cant shoot good % on 2's and 3's
Throw away pick jmho

Great to see video of ayo as he was selected by bulls. He and his family seem genuinely happy about the pick and team. Well deserved. It was definitely a roller coaster of emotion watching him drop but then the excitement of him playing in his home turf surrounded by his fam and the illinois fam base makes for a good evening.

While disappointing, Ayo will be fine. We know how hard he works and he will get better and better. Glad ill have a reason to watch the Bulls again.

Now I can’t wait until next years mock drafts start. /s

I was already psyched for Bulls summer league to see how Pat Will is coming along, and that feeling just doubled. I have no doubt this will allow Ayo to become a Chicago LEGEND

This is awesome for the Bulls and Ayo! The NBA draft is so weird, some of the guys being picked ahead of him were a bit of a head scratcher. Wagner being a lotttery pick and Ayo and Aaron Henry being second rounders doesn’t make much sense to me. I’ve just never understood the hype behind Wagner.
Yeah, seems that if you're 50% of another player but 3 years younger, teams will value the youth over one's ability in the moment. Biggest head scratcher was Josh Primo at #12. I know the Spurs have been the model dynasty for years but that feels like the biggest reach I've seen in years.

Well put.

Primo was a supreme reach. He only started 19 of his 30 collegiate games. I get that the Spurs are diving into a full rebuild. I also get that Primo is very young. He's younger than some of the one and done players that will be in next years draft. However, they could have traded down substantially and still gotten him.

I believe Ayo will have a long and successful NBA career. He has terrific work ethic and has gotten better every single year.

Ayo had a great college career and I don’t think a better performance in March would have helped. He is a solid all around player who does many things really well but he is not elite at any one item. He is what you want on a team.
If he knew he was going 2nd round would he have come back with the NIL rules. Ayo and Kofi would have been the face of college basketball
If I was advising players I would tell them to stay in school 4 years to maximize your NIL don’t risk draft unless you think you are in the top 15. It’s so hard to make a NBA roster. I think a player like Garza would have made a lot last year even at Iowa

I'm so thrilled he went to the Bulls.

I'm even more curious why he fell, hoping to get some insight as to what teams were thinking. 38 is just too low.
I agree it’s hard to understand from a pure basketball standpoint- but it is driven by the fact that analytics has taken over in basketball now like a lot of other sports. Teams are projecting based on athleticism and measurable who will be good in the league- look no further than the Bulls pick of Patrick Williams last year- he wasn’t a big time HS recruit (top 50ish), didn’t start at FSU but was the 4th pick in the draft purely from what the analytics said

I think Ayo will have a good career because he’s a winner and works hard and he’s just good at basketball and will figure out what he can do well- but if you are a scout, nothing jumps off the screen, not a pure point guard with great handles that sets up others, not an explosive leaper nor great 3 point shooter, good defender but not lock down- the “mid range game” just isn’t valued in today’s NBA analytics that says you should be shooting more threes

I think that’s why he fell- doesn’t mean he can’t be great- there just aren’t a lot of guys with his profile that have turned out to be great in today’s NBA- but Ayo has never worried about being one of the first at anything

FWIW - Parrish had only 15 of the first 37 ranked as high/higher than Ayo. Wild guess that Ayo will prove to be the sweetest rose of all, at least for Bulls fans.
