Dickinson left off after being a consensus second team all American as a freshman. I bet that hasn't happened often before.
Any publication that has TJD from IU as a first team anything is not worth reading .......IMHO, after watching over 60 + years of college BB , TJD is without a doubt the most overrated player I can think of.......

Every game I have watched of his , you get the pregame hype , all the accolades etc etc........Then I have seen brick after brick thrown at the rim from 4-6 feet out that has no chance......He does get a lot of points but are they important points that wins games ?????

Sorry , i can't sleep tonight and when i read that magazine with TJD so high up and no Curbello, well it triggered past opinions of the overrated loosier.....

carry on

Good morning everyone, I dont worry about to much on the critic's on message boards. I am probably his harshest critic, since I wanted him to be a baseball player.. I realize there will be games everyone on here will love him and there definitely will be games you will dislike him.. comes with the territory.. He has played with a chip on his shoulder so he has big enough shoulders, so far and has been able to handle it. Shooters, shoot (you love him when he take that crazy shot (that your yelling at the TV Nooooooo) and it goes in and you are elated. But in the same token, when he puts up that same shot and misses ( and those 4 letter swear words come rolling of your tongue, like poetry)
Everyone have a safe holiday weekend.

If you are truly Mr. Podz, welcome to the board.....seems like you get it....realize that some of the harshest critics of a certain player or team performance can also love the illini and its players....much like a parent loves their child and maybe a little over the top with their praise when they perform well , but can also be very critical of their childs shortcomings or mistakes....that's just reality .....enjoy the ride at Illinois while it lasts.....it will pass quickly

Regarding postgame threads and fan vitriol directed at players, I'm reminded of the tagline of the ancient (and fabulous) blog "Every Day Should Be Saturday" ~ 10-15 years ago, compiled by a rabid Florida Gator football fan:

"Second-guessing the split-second decisions of 19-year-olds since 2005."

My early impression is that each of the freshman will present a credible argument for some minutes: Podz and Goode with their 3-pt shooting and Melendez with his athleticism and energy. This team could be really fun.
If everyone's healthy, it will be pretty tough for any of the three FR to get minutes.

Having a level headed parent on this site is amazing and a great source of certain information. I'm sure there is a lot of information that you can't repeat. That being said, and with many on this site being avid Illini fans, is there any information you can reveal? Examples may be: Has Brandin talked about workouts at all?...Is there a player that has surprised him?...Has he talked about what he needs to work on the most, etc? I feel like this type of information makes us even closer to the program...I also know if you don't feel comfortable with this, I completely understand! Oh, and welcome to the board, I'll be rooting for your son!!!!!!!!! Go Illini!

Good read on Andre Curbelo from a non Illinois perspective

Interesting to hear how conference opponents rank the guards in our conference. Trent is also mentioned here

That was a video - not a picture. They were just showcasing that game overall as a solid performance by him. Which I agree with

Chester posted a video on his Instagram - I recommend watching it if you can. The video is Kofi talking about a late game timeout play scenario. What's important to note is who Kofi names would be in the game for that...
1. Curbelo
2. Trent
3. Grandison
4. Kofi
5. Alfonso

My guess is those are our main contributors this year and the most impactful players in practice.

Belo will be a Cousy finalist this year. No doubt in my mind.

For those who don't read the article, at least check out the video (and get excited):

Those are all really odd ways to spell Hutcherson.

I don't think you can realistically play 1, 2, and 5 together for long stretches. End of the game when you need a bucket sure but that's a defensive liability just due to size.

Not if we're crushing teams. I think that will happen often. But, yeah, this is largely a development year for them. Even though they won't see the floor much, I'd wager they improve a ton this year.

Maybe not all three...but Belo and Frazier are going to be absolutely electric together. Just watch the scUM replay.

Just wondering on the board....is anyone privy to practices? If so who do you see running in the 1st unit.
