What prompted this outburst? Kind of random and overly salty for a guy who has yet to play a game.
From what I can gather, an Illinois fan commented "can't wait to meet y'all in the tourney" during his live stream, which I honestly don't think is that terrible a comment to make. I'd rather Illinois fans refrain from commenting on other teams' players' live streams altogether though

Joel Goodson

respect my decision™
Piper changed his CB for Corhen to FSU. Another CB for Whitmore to Nova.

Eric Bossi predicts Whitmore to Nova, though he doesn't sound overly confident in that prediction, and says the two names he's hearing most with AJ Casey are DePaul and Marquette, though again he hedges by saying there's not a lot of info floating around on his recruitment. So take all of that for whatever it's worth.

maybe our fans shouldn’t be going to players live streams and stirring the pot. Just sayin. Bad reflection on our fan base and program.
Ding ding ding! Its so annoying; some of us Illinois fans are so insecure, just sit back and act like we've been here! geez

He basically called us irrelevant and said the only guy on the roster he has heard of is Kofi.
Or, put another way, another high character UK recruit. Do they even have to go to class during the second semester? Seriously, if UK wants to do these kids a real service they should give them media training and have them take a couple financial management classes. Maybe with the new NLI rules, all programs should have them sign up for business and marketing classes. So they don't end up featured on the sequel to "Broke".

I get where you're coming from, but we should move on from policing how fans interact with players.
  1. This is the norm in any fanbase. We’re not a united body of people. We’re individuals who discovered a team through various outlets (e.g. College, local, tournament, etc)
  2. There are fans that follow players more closely than actual teams. Heck, Zion Williamson had a fair share of non Duke fans
  3. This is free promo that keeps our team relevant. CBS reposted that video and stirred the pot

In my opinion, Tyty just wanted to lash out because "can't wait to meet y'all in the tourney" is a pretty lackluster, neutral comment to merit that outburst

Isn't he the guy that suckerpunched an opponent while shaking hands? Dude's got some anger issues.

The Illini fan was being respectful, and then with TyTy being the cocky, egotistical kid he is, lashed out, as if his team made the tournament, and he had the right to talk sh*t, when in fact, he would be lucky to start here.

Very unpopular opinion, but I agree. Can't stand the behaviour policing of college sports fans. I know we are unusually petty, but that comes with driving a top ten revenue program that has not been relevant since 05-06.

I'll take dumb internet behaviour if it's ultimately a product of being arguably the best fan base in college ball. At least we care.

Fan did nothing wrong in this case and TyTy seems lame. Wouldn't have a beer with him.

I agree this is not a great example of fans misbehaving, because the comment was pretty unoffensive, and also agree there is nothing that can be done to stop it. But, as a fan who actually cares about the image of our fanbase and my alma mater, I would never do this kind of thing because I don't think it helps the cause at all. These guys are people too, and they probably see a lot of harrassment we are never privy to. I don't care what Tyty thinks of our fanbase, but I do worry about what potential recruits think of us, for obvious reasons.

Some of the best players in the history of Illinois basketball were b & c options (or had us as them). It'll be fine.
Not worried at all, I just think if the realistic b and c options don't work out (those big guys from Colorado and Utah), then we will simply look to the portal to fill holes. Nowadays it isn't worth taking too many flyers on guys with the level of talent available each spring
