Not worried at all, I just think if the realistic b and c options don't work out (those big guys from Colorado and Utah), then we will simply look to the portal to fill holes. Nowadays it isn't worth taking too many flyers on guys with the level of talent available each spring
Agree. We continue to bring in high level guards/wings. What we need from our bigs is rim protection, rebounding, the ability to set screens/roll/catch lobs and, ideally, stretch the floor enough to keep the defense honest.

Rare to find a Fr big who can make an impact in those ways. We may be better off pulling in OP type guys from the portal, who most likely will be better prepared to do what we need vs a Fr.

That said, have we heard anything further about Phillips or Traore? I like Traore’s upside better but think he’s probably 2 years away from being an impact player. Phillips is more physically ready but looks to be just a bit lumbering for what we want to do. But then again, Kofi looked lumbering in HS too!

We're out on Phillips. Don't know if it was us or him.

I do like watching videos, and I watched this one. I'm not sure TyTy would have made the academic cut at Illinois.
Don’t know about that, but I will be interested to see what kind of impact he makes at UK. I would have gladly taken him, but I don’t see elite quickness, explosiveness or shooting when I watch him play. I think his ceiling is Jalen Brunson which, admittedly is a high ceiling. But not sure I see a one n done lottery pick.

Yea he was the one who's source was twitterin AJ Storr's mom. I'm pretty sure he's illininut I could look it up but it's not worth it.

I really don't care what TyTy thinks about Illinois. That's not a slam on him. I can't name two players on the Kentucky roster. Heck, I can't name two players on most B1G rosters (at least until the season gets underway). It doesn't make sense to claim Illinois is irrelevant when Kentucky poached two coaches and considered trying to poach a player from Illinois. Since he has no Illinois ties, I don't wish him well or otherwise. He is irrelevant to me.

Can't name players either, but I can name two of their assistant coaches....:sneaky:

I’m not sure how him talking to AJ Storr’s mom on social media proves he doesn’t know anything. He lives and breathes Illini basketball and has slowly made made a few connections imo. Or he’s tuned in enough to realize FSU isn’t prioritizing Corhen, which counts for something.

Yeah, while he isn't an insider, he's very, very good at compiling Illini recruiting info.

Just because he says this doesn't mean it's true. He's basing it on them continuing to pursue prospects "who play the same position" though they are actually listed as playing other positions (plus one of them looks likely to be going elsewhere so wouldn't be a barrier to Corhen anyway)

You may be right as well. But I’m just responding to the poster who spoke “matter of fact” that he knows that Ryan knows absolutely nothing. Why Illini fans are so quick to try and tear down fellow die hard Illini fans who stay up to date with recruiting I don’t understand.
-not saying you’re tearing anyone down-

In data sets, fidelity is important. Having a lot of data doesn't necessarily mean it's good data.

For example, nutt posts anything that has anything to do about Illini recruiting. 0440 posts direct information from direct sources. This is high fidelity data, of data which doesn't need to be sifted through from 30 other pieces of data.

Who really cares about what I'm saying? Where's nutt?
