not just him , but Pace also
I am not saying Nagy has no fault in this, but Pace has been in Chicago longer and has yet to put together an effective offensive line!

As well, he continues to trade away draft capital which is going to handcuff anyone who follows him. I have said it before here and I will say it again...as long as the McCaskey family owns the team, we are going to be stuck in Football Hell.

Ive been beating that same drum for 15 years. Some people say that when the grand old dame passes, her kids and grandkids will force a sale. I dont know if thats true, but one can hope. Until that "sale" of controlling interest occurs, we are stuck in Dante's Inferno.

I know this, I will not be watching them again for awhile.
Thank God I switched to watching the Ryder Cup after halfway thru the 2nd quarter. Now, that was fun !!

And the Bears might be the worst of the lot. What’s the best case scenario for that team? 5-12?

And remember that they don’t have a first round draft pick.

They’ve once again shoved all their chips into the middle of the table on a young qb while putting that young qb into an impossible situation.
The season goes one of two directions from here--either a complete free-fall to a disastrous won-loss record or they can somehow stumble around to maybe 7 wins or so. Playoff contention looks to be completely out of the picture for this group. Off the top of my head they have two games with Detroit and also the Steelers and Giants who I think are pretty bad teams but who knows how the season plays out, some teams will be improving and others going downhill as the season progresses.

Next week will be interesting. Detroit looks like they might be a special kind of bad.

They’re giving up 380 yards a game on defense, which is a mild improvement over what was the worst defense in the league last year.

If the Bears O can’t get some consistent movement next week, regardless of who’s qb’ing, you’d think something would have to change.

Bears need to get real lucky to win 6 games

5-12 or 4-13 is much more likely imo

The line is actually quite offensive!

In all seriousness, I have been saying since we traded for Kahlil Mack and really set our defense that we need to spend our first and second round draft picks over a 2-3 year period for the best linemen available when we pick. I don’t even care if it’s a reach. Best tackle here, best guard there, and develop.

Having a first round stud qb doesn’t matter (obviously) if the line can’t do anything. Imagine a young line with solid potential and 1-2 years experience working together. That is when you draft a qb. He can learn the game while adequately protected. If you can speed up the line development by grabbing a young tackle in free agency off his rookie contract, even better. But we haven’t put resources and development into the offensive line for as long as I can remember.

I was hopeful Justin Fields running ability would save him from our line. I was wrong. He seemed content to trust his line and be a pocket passer. IMO he needs to look first read and run. Our line can’t get him to his second progression so F it and use that 6’5 235 lb 4.4 speed.

Fields ran the offense called for him.

The Bears almost never left a back in to block. They never chipped with their tight ends on the DEs. Their blocking TE saw only one snap. They abandoned the running game, with Montgomery getting 2 or 3 carries in the second half. They called one play action pass. They called one screen pass, very late in the game. They never doubled the DEs that were causing havoc. They never rolled away from the DEs causing havoc.

It looked like the Bears were intentionally trying to get their rookie quarterback killed.

Was listening to someone who had watch game film of Bears offense. There was about 13 plays in that game where they just had the 5 offensive linemen blocking. There was about another dozen plays where they had 2 TEs but they were just there to chip the defensive ends.

According to this story, Da Bears are moving to Arlington Heights, IL, will be announced on Wednesday. Local media hasn't picked up on it yet, the story was posted about an hour ago and has been updated at least once.

They've signed the purchase agreement. Doesn't mean they'll move there immediately or even at all anytime in the near future. Considering how much they'd owe the Chicago Park District if they broke the Soldier Field lease before 2026, this is just the first step to them eventually moving out there.

So what's your point? The wheels are in motion. Obviously it's not gonna happen immediately, but there's only one reason they're buying that land.

The best way to get a better deal at your current job is to make it look like someone else is interested. This might be something, or this might just be leverage to restructure their deal with the CPD.

OTOH, if I owned the Bears, getting away from the spaceship, the horrible parking, and the mess that is the City of Chicago, maybe moving to the burbs is a real option.

One thing to remember with this sale is that it won't be closed til late 2022 or early 2023. My guess is it will probably be 2026 or 2027 at the earliest before the Bears start play in any new stadium in Arlington Heights.

Their lease with Soldier Field runs through 2033 and if they break the lease before 2026 they have to pay the city of Chicago $84 million.

One of the sticking points I heard today that was that the Bears felt the city wasn't negotiating in good faith as the Bears wanted a sportsbook put in at Soldier Field.

Don’t know if anyone read the piece on the Ringer, but it sounds like last week Nagy ran the exact opposite playbook to play to Fields’ strengths, irrespective of the personnel issues. To me that raises several questions:
1. Does Pace not understand what Nagy wants to do on offense? Ie did he take a quarterback that, while talented, isn’t a good fit for the offense?
2. Did Pace and Nagy not communicate at all to discuss how Fields could fit before they mortgaged the teams future to draft him?
3. Does Pace realize Nagy is a dud and took Fields as a hedge, thinking that pick will keep him around longer than Nagy?
4. Is Nagy too stupid/stubborn to adjust his system to play to Fields’ strengths?

There just seems to be a disconnect between the plays that are being called and what Fields can do and what the Oline is capable of. I’m worried that Fields is caught in the middle of some sort of ego contest between GM and HC. I think he has the chance to be a generational QB but the Bears might ruin him if they continue down this path. If they come out with the same game plan again today, Nagy should be fired on Monday morning. Let Lazar call the plays. He at least seems to be able to build a game plan around players strengths.
