John Groce was reduced to starting a walk-on during one injury prone season. It wasn't pretty then, and I don't want to see it again now.

I guess we could argue that "highly unlikely" still means there is a chance 1 or 2 of the listed players plays, don't count LvilleILL out yet!

So do we have anyone actually playing today? Is Tylor going to have to become a player/coach so we can field a team?

Looks like flu shots will be mandatory next year, lol. This is getting farcical with the bodies out—hope the boys keep their heads up and tread water until they mend up.

Someone other than Kof and Plummer needs to be a double digit scorer and hero tonight.
That is the crazy part Brandin got the flu shot with his teammates about 2 or 3 weeks ago... I think it came from the Tourney... to start you had four different state teams there (Kansas, IL, Ohio, Arkansas) Then you also had College Hall of fame induction ( people flying in from different states) Then Brandin said the Cowboys vs the Chiefs was on Sunday and they stayed at the same hotel as them (so that adds Texas) lot of people all in one area.. Not trying to start anything but those are the facts...

Since when does a flu shot stop the flu? Just like with Covid vacinnes not stopping breakthrough cases all over the same can be said with flu shots that are normally only 1/3 effective every year.
It's hit or miss each year because (as I understand it) the vaccine is based on a guess months in advance (for mfg purposes) at the strain that will prevail during the following winter. Sometimes it's highly effective, sometimes much less so b/c the virus mutates sufficiently to render the guess off-target. The optionality of it is valuable, however, because if you catch the flu and you've been vaccinated you'll often suffer a good deal less.

I'd be surprised if college basketball players aren't strongly encouraged to get the flu vaccine every fall. The cost of losing starters in Jan/Feb is substantial.

Whelp, based on that information the only conclusion is that Bruce Weber is a biohazard.

Are you suggesting that our guys did not get the flu shot this fall?

I think you are exaggerating the # of breakthrough cases. Have you noticed that the people who are coming down with Covid are mostly the unvaccintated. Years ago I had a couple of serious cases of the flu, one being the Hong Kong flu, which was a bad one, and then in the late '80s another one that just wouldn't go away. It left a cough that I had for months (must have had 3 relapses). Since then I've had a flu shot every year and haven't had the flu since. That's over 30 years.

Not sure where to put this, but watching the 2004 Wake Forest vs U of I game on the BTN. I loved that team. One of the best played games by an Illini team ever. I like watching it even though we all know who wins.

It could have just been me, but I feel that UTRGV made a LOT of lucky shots on what looked like pretty well defended plays. Running to the basket and flipping up layups that went in due to some soft rims. Plus a lot of ticky tack fouls.

Yes I know some of our defense was bad but not all of it was.
Hopefully today shows a bit better lock down.

I am going to be ecstatic if we get a win, but won’t expect it. I think it will be a close exciting game either way.

A few guesses for fun...Hutch will be better with the ball and have an improved game...Kofi will have fewer passes at his ankles, and he will have a few assists...Hawkins assertiveness continues...that's if any are able.
