As all my friends here know I have been a die hard Illini fan for over 60 + years.....I used to win B1G championships as a youngster in my backyard hitting the winning bucket and running around like the little twerp I was back then.......

The level of excitement I feel about the Illini the last 3-4 years is on a par with the 2004-05 Illini and the Flying Illini teams....not saying we are as good as those teams , just that I am excited by the potential of this team that really started when Ayo stayed home and became an Illini.....

This year has tested our mettle , our resolve , our intestinal fortitude and we did stub our toe regarding Marquette and Cincy , no doubt about it......Will it make us tougher ???? ........I hope so.......coach layed it on the line with the "" soft "" and "" chest caved in "" rhetoric and tonight their was nothing soft or chest caved in play by ANY Illini ........

BU talked about RJ needing an amputation after rolling his ankle , then 30 minutes later he was ready to go and started the game ....Hit 2 three pointers in the first half....etc etc

Bottom line is BU loves this team and they love him too............recruiting is off the charts as far as I can see .....i remember back to the waning days of Weber and all of Groce's tenure here and we were begging point guards to come play here......Now , we are loading up on top 100 point guards and to me that means the future is bright for the Illini.......

my top wish and I know all my friends here feel the same way....let's get that damn Natty and rejoice like only Illini Nation can do .......

Do we now have commits from the best player in state for each of the next 3 seasons? ‘22 Rodgers, ‘23 Fears, ‘24 Johnson!!!!
I suppose as long as you ignore JJ Taylor that's correct. If he doesn't count as Illinois anymore (Donda Academy), then neither should Fears (La Lumiere).

If you go by Taylor - CA and Fears - IN (and Boswell - AZ, Buzelis - NH), the top player in the state would be Dai Dai Ames at Kenwood.

So Donda Academy is actually playing basketball, what are the chances that the players will be eligible for NCAA participation? Specifically interested in JJ Taylor but just curious overall.

Don't be surprised to see Fears finish up his career back at Joliet West next year with his brother.
