Saw interesting tweet today. Four BIG schools among the P5 leaders regarding scholarship players into portal since Aug 1. Indiana is tied with Syracuse for most with 10, WI and Minny have 9 and Maryland with 8. I believe Illini sit at 2 currently.

Illinois is gonna have a LOT more I reckon. BB has stated he plans on using the full 32* scholly limit this year and we also have to get back down to 85 scholies total.

So a lot of guys will be heading to the portal I’m guessing.

Robert does a good breakdown in his depth chart post here.

*NCAA raised the yearly limit from 25 to 32 as long as you have a certain amount of transfers out of the program. 8 I think?

Good is a big understatement.
Absolutely, very thorough. I agree that both lines, offensive and defensive will get the most transfers. That’s where we need to equal up with the premier teams in the BIG.

So is wisecarver another highly rated recruit not living up to expectations or still too soon?

A freshman and at position that takes the longest time to develop....give it a little time.
Roberts depth chart had okla ahead of wisecarver at lg. Between that and not hearing much about him all yr had me wondering. Will he better suited inside or outside in the future? Thought he had the makings to play both.

I'm a hard-core BB fan, so at best, a casual football guy. Admittedly I have watched more this year, so I have a pretty basic question.

What's the outlook at QB next year?

Thanks for taking my call....

I’ve no idea what happened and I feel bad for the kid. It was a big deal when he committed. But the fact that 2 different staffs have not had him on the field seems like the writing is on the wall.
It seems like most of the highly rated recruits we do land don't pan out for one reason or another. The only star I can think of is I. Williams.

agreed, looking forward to that no longer being the case and i'm assuming that recruiting into a system that works is going to help. a lot.

Armstrong just entered the portal. We landed him last year from Norte Dame. Only played three snaps this past season as a converted RB playing WR. I expect more people seeing the writing on the wall that BB is looking to turn the roster over.

Starting with both sides of the line of scrimmage. I totally agree.
