Wouldn’t art be lucky to be healthy by mid/late summer? Not saying collier or leary can’t develop into a starting qb, but id feel a ton better knowing we brought in a guy or 2 with d-1 experience at qb for next yr to elevate competition and just roll with art and the young guys. Devito fits the bill, 1 yr stop gap with plenty of experience and there is plenty of guys that would work, curious who wants to come here or who the staff can convince to come here. Oh and out of curiosity, if devito does come here, wouldn’t he be joining art, peters and lunt as another 4 star transfer qb coming to Illinois?

bolded seems to me the 'operative' phrase .... imo

Well proven QBs (rattler for example) are gonna have their pick of where to go and it isn’t gonna be Illinois. The staff also isn’t going to throw their freshman QB to the wolves. He needs time to develop and get reps in practice. So stop gaps it is. They would prefer a transfer QB with multiple years of eligibility though.
How good does the staff expect Collier to be? Is he going to be a viable option after a full year of practice and increased reps next fall or are we giving up on him?

I mean he has arm talent and is athletic but he was 4th or 5th string this year….not looking at him being a valuable asset in the near future.

Reported that Coach Jamison visited Northwestern transfer TeRah Edwards, a 6-2, 294 pound DT. He was a 3* guard coming out of high school (2020) from Ohio. Not much in the way of stats while at NW — 1 tackle in each of last two years. His first career tackle was against Illinois in one of two games he played last year.

He had some good offers coming out of high school- Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, etc.

Can we get some donors to do this? This is one way to get some road graders in!!

Any school that wants to compete will get their alumni mobilized. The end is near. The athletic department's Director of NIL/Chief Briber will be the first line in the recruitment cycle, handing it off to traditional recruiters once a school has met the recruit's $ hurdle.

The 2023 in state class is loaded with road graders. Be nice to lock some of these kids up early. Big RB’s behind a monster OLine is the Illini offense of the future I want to see. A good solid QB that isn’t mistake prone with some competent WR’s…

Vanderbilt transfer. He’s a 6-1 CB. Had 50 tackles and 1 INT this past season. Was a low 3* out of high school and Vandy was his best offer.

From the above article: ' Jeudy started 12 games this season as a sophomore, recording 50 tackles, two passes defensed, an interception and a tackle for loss. He has three more years of eligibility left.

“Commodore Nation, you truly are the heart beat behind us all,” Jeudy tweeted. “The family and community you have brought have been first class and I know you will continue to do so always! Thank you for giving me the best 3 years a student-athlete could ask for!” '
