The other weird fan psychology thing - which was rampant on the Iowa board this week - is tearing down a team that just beat you. Even though it’s objectively better for your team if everyone thinks the team that beat you is good, some fans are so mad about the loss that they like have to get a dig in at the other team and talk about how it’s a “bad loss,” even if that means their team is worse.

IU fans have done this for years. Every loss is “pathetic” to a “terrible” team. It’s like a weird thing they do to comfort themselves that at least their standards are like so high!! In an odd way, it’s like the kid who’s so afraid of failing that he doesn’t even try and talks about how stupid the game is, lol.
Iowa fans are a miserable bunch. That board is just hilarious.

I think Baylor from last year is a good comp for this game. It’s going to be tough to come out of this one with a win.
We played Baylor on road (or neutral). This is at home. Not a good comp

Sadly. too many of us do this to our own players in the middle of a game. I remember a couple putting Kofi down early in a game that he eventually scored about 30 in.

Man, reading this pregame thread, you would think we’re entering this game +10 at home. Illinois likely to open as 1 or 2 point favorites. Breathe, and take it in. We are a good team with a great opportunity and have a home crowd behind us. AZ has looked great but hasn’t played much of anyone. We have a better chance than most will give us credit for.

If we can't figure out how to beat a press we will have disappointments throughout the season. We will see it until we show we can handle it and make teams pay.
Just watch the Iowa State Iowa game... Iowa State burned Iowa badly and often. Cyclones played a very good game.

I really should have elaborated. For game such as this, I would prefer we paint the hall orange.

Obviously, it's always been hard to win on the road...but I'm wondering if it's even harder this year since teams had a whole year of empty stadiums last year. Duke loses at OSU, we lose at Marquette, Purdue at Rutgers...the list goes on and on. But maybe I'm just cherry picking.

Regardless, would love to make this a statement game. It would be fun to get another big home winning streak going and have the whole country knowing you can't come into the House of Paign and win. Currently on a 10 game streak, let's keep it going!

My apologies if this has already been discussed, but Arizona's two biggest wins came in Las Vegas. I think a lot can be said about Michigan and Wichita State moving two different time zones. And Michigan had two days in Vegas before playing Arizona. I remember a minor league baseball player in Vegas once saying his favorite time to play someone was their second day in Vegas...they were always hungover. FWIW. I'm hopeful we see a terrific game tomorrow with the Illini coming out on top (by 20).
