I guess, but wow. Top 100 down to whatever level Alabama A&M is. Then again, he's unproven at this point.
Unproven is key. Had major knee injury and two seasons later still wasn’t seeing field for Illinois. Not sure why Power 5 team would take a chance on him at this time with all that is in portal. Plus I’d guess he just wants to get on the field and play. Though it may not look likely, if he can show he’s good enough for next level, NFL will find him there. And it is an historically black school, which he might value more than playing at a say a South Florida or NIU if he had the chance.

I'm not sure if it's an indictment of Beason's play because he can't work out during visits (right?) and he hasn't played in a long time. Maybe he wants to go further South, maybe he feels a cultural connection with an HBCU, maybe they are providing guarantees for playing time that others are not.

Keep in mind is that players entering the portal are going to be experiencing the most difficult environment ever for transfer athletes. Everyone is "overweight" on rostered players and scholarship allotments. If you enter the portal and have limited tape for a team that either (1) doesn't have an all-conference player blocking your playing time or (2) you play for a program that isn't held in high regard, you are likely to make a serious stumble down the football program pecking order. There will be transfers that normally would have landed at a MAC school a couple years ago that will end up at DII programs or will quit altogether this spring/summer.

Hope we get a nice surprise or two (or three or . . .) today and tomorrow. Definitely need some success with transfers, but adding some more from HS and JC ranks will really help team foundation.

Any chances for a flip? I am still wanting for someone to lie and say there's a chance that Austin Brown doesn't sign with Wisconsin.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that Rooks is 6'5" and Illinois is recruiting him as a defensive back.
Oh .. I was thinking he was a WR recruit. Hmm...

Any more rumblings about Kody Jones from Memphis? Everything online looks like a solid Michigan commit, but I was hearing a few things over the past couple days.
