I forgot this is another 1st year head coach we’re playing… we’re 1-3 (with the 1 win being a bad game against UTRGV). Can we please break this seeming curse we’ve had against us?

I do hope I'm wrong and we start cruisin' again next week... but I don't see how this is going to get better over the next few weeks--lots of starts and stops to be expected...

The disruptions are going to be potentially crazy. Everyone is going to be thrown off. Perhaps even more than last year, healthy teams who can practice and then compete with regular rotations are going to benefit.

good news for us is this should be out of the way after this week-other teams may have to deal with this down the road. Would rather have it now than in 3 months. Looking foward to Tuesday

Glad we can get it in! This is a huge game. Yeah, Minnesota might still be "who we thought they were," but no one can deny their start has been impressive. If we can pick up a road win to start at 3-0 in the Big Ten, I will be quite excited. :) History is certainly on our side vs. the Goofs, so let's keep it up!

All-Time Series: ILL 126, MINN 68
Since 2000: ILL 32, MINN 8
Underwood vs. Minnesota (4-2):
2021 in Minneapolis (W): #5 Illinois 94, Minnesota 63
2021 in Champaign (W): #13 Illinois 92, Minnesota 65
2020 in Champaign (W): #19 Illinois 59, Minnesota 51
2019 in Minneapolis (L): Minnesota 86, Illinois 75
2019 in Champaign (W): Illinois 92, Minnesota 68
2018 in Minneapolis (L): Minnesota 77, Illinois 67

As a fun side note, we beat Minnesota 20 times in a row from the 1998-99 season to 2007-08. That streak was broken in a game I remember like it was yesterday - McCamey and Co. came into The Barn ranked #19 and got absolutely worked, losing 59-36 ... and we looked BAD.

Hoping that someone on here can sneak into practices this weekend and see who's on the court.

36 points is a special kind of bad.
Nothing has or, God willing, ever will, surpass the 38-33 loss to Penn State three weeks later in terms of eye-bleeding badness and utter wretchitude. Heck, scoring 36 in The Barn, on the road, was an explosion of offense in comparison. Fun fact: the Illini were ranked in the Top 20 both games. Ponder that.

I'm so thankful those days are long gone (the scoring 30-ish, not the Top 20 rankings which, come to think of it, would be nice right about now :ROFLMAO:.)
