Mekhi Wingo, a DL from Missouri via DeSmet HS (St. Louis), has entered portal. He had 27 tackles (14 solo), a sack, 3 tackles for loss, and an Int for a touchdown (against North Texas). That was good for SEC all-freshmen team in season he played all 13 games and started 4. According to 24/7, Illini didn’t offer him, but he was offered and committed to Missouri in Jan. 2020 so presumably Walters had some kind of relationship with him.

Here's a highly regarded guy that the staff should have a chance. The Walters connection is intriguing.

247 lists him as a 2020 committed to Air Force. Transfer with 4 years left it appears.

Here is an extensive list of transfers. Seems to be updated pretty frequently. Was looking for available qb transfers but didn’t have much luck.

That’s one of the better ones I’ve found. Wish someone had something similar to the verbal commits site for basketball. Tons of information and links at a glance.

What I have seen as we only have 5 transferring out in which 2 are of the substantial nature, Beason and Spann. Many teams are losing much more and we need to really capitalize as we are losing a lot of experience through graduation

But this example is also the beauty of NIL and highlights what a great equalizer it can be. See what Deion Sanders is doing for Jackson State.
What I foresee is the death of college football and basketball. I sincerely hope that’s not the case, but free agency money is flowing with almost no controls. Maybe it always did, but the FBS is becoming the new professional league. If I were the NFL owners (or a college football coach), I might be a little concerned . . .

I knew it would become a free for all with absolutely no oversight.

In the 8 years of the college playoffs, only 13 teams have taken the 32 playoff spots. Only 6 schools have made it to the championship game with only 4 schools winning national championships (Georgia could become 5th schools. Not really sure how NLI will make things worse let alone cause the death of college football.

And FYI, Caleb Williams is not going to EMU.
