The staff truly believes that Epps & Rodgers can have Trent & Damonte type of impact during their time here.

Dudes are just freakin winners. Ultimate competitors. No fear.
it is so enjoyable as a fan to see us recruiting at the high level we are now .......Basically drawing back on our interest in a top 30 recruit is so awesome as a fan with the recruiting fiasco's of Weber ,post 2005 and all of Groce's failures ......

The future of the Illini is in good hands starting with BU and now that we have a rocking staff of hungry AC's , I firmly believe we will see this level of recruiting on an annual basis and finally earn the distinction of "" Reloading , not rebuilding ""

It's an exciting time to be an Illini fan , and as one who is at an advanced age , worth the wait.......With Belo back I really think we can go on an extended stay in the dance and with the recruits coming in next year and even a couple years down the road , the days of bubble watching on Selection Sunday is a thing of the past.....

Curbelo gone after this year still up in the air....before the season he was 100% gone but wit his injuries it's now a question mark. Scouts love him though. As for Boswell I wouldn't say it is a long shot by any means as a poster suggested earlier. Indy said they are trying to get him on campus next month which is true but the staff is finding that a lot of recruits aren't vaxxed which is making it doubly difficult to get them on campus and or to games along with their high school seasons.

Loved him more than Ayo last year.

Personally need to see more from Dainja before grouping him with the others. One of the knocks against him at Baylor was that he didn't put the work in. Obviously hoping for a different result with our team moving forward (and rooting for him to be successful).
Im betting that Dainja will put in the work.....I mean if you're around a group of players that are working their tails off, whether on the court or in the weight room to get better, I think you're going to be effected by that in a very positive way....knowing that your teammates are putting in the work ....but if you're sluffin off...it would be a little embarrassing I would think....I think the work ethic of the coaches and other players on the team will rub off on DD....now how that translates into performance and results... time will tell. Trusting that the staff sees some good possibilities DD or they wouldn't have him here

If the scouts love him this much now....I'll just take a sec to reiterate that he's a lottery pick after coming back next year.

Don't know how much him returning influences the rest of the guards going forward.

If we get to the 2nd weekend or a final 4 and Curbelo is a major factor of that run, It's certainly a possibility he's gone. I'm just wondering how much the concussion and lingering effects impacts the interest of the professional scouts. Hopefully little, but I can't imagine its not something that is at least on their radar.

Agree. I’m putting faith in the staff that they did their due diligence and feel like Dainja will buy in and put in Kofi like work or close to it.

Still say if he can get in shape and polish his game a bit more my comp for him is Thomas Bryant. Not a super leaper, but physical, skilled with really long arms.

Hope you're right. I'd be pretty shocked to find out that the attitude around the Baylor program was all that different. It's not like they were some aggregation of superstar HS talent. They succeeded, I'm guessing, because they took the business of becoming better basketball players and a better team very seriously.

I really hope it's already on the table....but seeing that the criteria for Frazier's #1 in the rafters is probably out of reach....I would love to see the staff create a defensive award/tracking metric to honor Trent's commitment to Illinois. Considering there is also a Frazier on staff...who was pretty damn good on D....it seems like a no brainer to have a Frazier defensive award/tracker.

Maybe with a cool name?

Frazier Fear Factor
Frazier Fight Factor

Or just...you know... The Frazier.

Yup. Dainja is super talented just has been a little bit of a head case. Hope it works out for us

I like this. Make it a boxing/wrestling belt with a big engraved lock icon on it so they can be flashy with it.

I would bet that the idea of putting in the work was fully discussed with this gentleman before an offer was extended...........Maybe even a large pic of a treadmill............just sayin..................

We don't know the details about what happened to Dainja in Waco.

In a top 10 program playing time is super competitive. Omar is only averaging 5 mpg for Illinois despite coming from P5 program and getting significant playing time at end of season.

Dainja's foot injury did not help.

Sometimes the chemistry is not right. Remember how surprised everyone was at Miller transfer since he was starter last season and had a chance to takeover Ayo's role.

The physical ability and size are there. He reminds me of Waymon Tisdale. I am hoping he becomes a low post scoring machine. Kofi's low post game has improved so much since his freshman year. Dainja could do the same.

I'm not sure why it would take that much for him to get drafted. If we keep winning this season and he's a major part then I'd have to think he's got a shot even if we underperform in the tournament.

Andre needs to develop a stronger outside game.

In NBA there are shotblockers everywhere and he will be guarded by players 6 inches taller than him.

He does not have to drain three's like Stefan Curry - but a nice mid range pull up jumper would be golden. He has the quickness and it would open up the passing lanes.

If he can do that I think he can get drafted. If he wants to go in 1st round he needs to average 20 ppg and become a stronger defender.

You are probably right. I was thinking about something more akin to Deron Williams where he went from probably leaving to, its absolutely the wrong decision if he stays.
