Minus officiating perks, I'd take Underwood over Izzo as a coach any day.
I'm not necessarily agreeing, or disagreeing, to your statement. But I wonder what makes you say that. Recruiting? Pre-game preparation? In game adjustments when things aren't working? I guess I'd just like to know why you think that. Thanks.

I would not expect Kofi tomorrow, and maybe not back until Wisco, not exactly sure if they're being extra cautious or if the problem is a bit bigger than hoped. But it seems like there is a bit of miscommunication behind the scenes, and they are currently trying to get everyone to keep on pushing through the storm.

This is usually the time of the year where coaches are hoping everything starts to click and fall into place. But, they are struggling to keep everyone on the same page with all of this adversity. They want everyone healthy and ready come crunch time so I think there is a little extra caution right now.

With or without Kofi, tomorrow will be a physical game with some bad blood still lingering. *knocks on wood* I hope no one in orange and blue catches a stray elbow.

Bill, how is it that I never noticed your avatar until now? You can join but the hazing process is quite grueling.

Me too… because that’s ridiculous. Izzo has 52 tourney wins compared to underwood’s 3. Better regular season winning percentage, a national title, 8 final fours and 10 big ten regular season titles. Underwood has never been past the round of 32 and has 3 southland titles. I like underwood but come on now.

I can't stand Sparty fans and cant stand that little midget Izzo too. I hope we beat them. We need to win this game badly. GO ILLINI!
What about a rumor of Izzo retiring? Coach K finally is, and Izzo must be nearly the same age. Any recruits thinking about going there can't be sure who's going to end up coaching them.

By the time he is Izzos age his resume will be better. GO ILLINI

Unfortunately, I don't think they'll face any problems and Michigan St. will continue to be a force in the Big Ten for a long time. Dwayne Stephens would make the most sense of taking over, and would be a perfect fit. It's pretty crazy he hasn't taken a HC job somewhere else, but he's gotta have just been waiting for Izzo to pass the crown eventually.

Izzo is still only 66 and I haven't ever heard of any health issues that would take him out of the game earlier than he would like to. So if you have heard a rumor doesn't seem too believable.

...I would be down to start spreading that rumor though

That would be 8 more years, so Undie would need to make the Final Four every year for the next 8 years. He'll also need to win the B10 each of those years (and twice in at least two of those years).
If my math is right (big if) he'd also need to win the tourney all 8 years, with at least one of those being as a play-in team, to match those 52 tournament wins.

I am not arguing that I would take Underwood over Izzo, but let’s not act like we are comparing apples to apples here. Izzo took over MSU in 1995, Brad was an Assistant Coach at Western at the time. Underwood took over at SFA in 2013. So Izzo has been a division I head coach for 18 more years. The team Izzo took over just finished 2nd in B1G and got a 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. That is quite different from what Brad took over!

I do not understand the whole concussion thing. I had a severe concussion back in the 90’s where I played the entire game (softball league) where I could not remember anything. I went to the hospital that night and was released the next day and went back to work the next day. My job was a physical one so its not a desk job. So my question to anyone here, why is this a long term process? Are they being more cautious? I had zero issues after getting out of the hospital.

Come on bro...... you talking about concussions in the 90's.
There is so much more research on the dangerous effects of concussions now then in the 90's.
