#69 (niiiice) on Rivals but #1 in my heart.Ranked #69
Yeah I've seen him in person a few times and he's long and rangy with raw athleticism and a very good IQ. Excellent passer, especially off the bounce. He's really the best guy on the GBW team at feeding Huff imo, though they try to work the high/low with another big. What impressed me the most was NONE of the GBW players backed down or seemed particularly intimidated by Sierra Canyon/Amari Bailey/Bronny, etc. They just went about their business and almost won. Paxton is a winner with upside. I predict he'll develop at IL for a year or two with Fletch and if he doesn't get an opportunity he'll hit the portal. Which is finePretty good for a walk on...
I hope he plays a ton because we’re running the competition out of the gym!Looks great, I hope he never plays

At the very least will be a great scout team player to get our guys preppedYeah I've seen him in person a few times and he's long and rangy with raw athleticism and a very good IQ. Of course Jake will be invited back. Are you nuts? BU just said in a presser that he gets nervous whenever Jake’s not in the game.Maybe you meant Frazier, Plummer, and Williams? They are super seniors.
Grandison has a super senior year available. Dunno if he'll be invited back or even will want to return. .
Note that super senior seniors will count next year, and there is no obligation to bring them back.
Also, I count 12 scholarship players eligible to return and 3 signed, so the roster for 2022/23 is fluid.
He is an elder statesman. Coaches always love those. That said Jake has some limitations to his game. He isn't a great defender and he is mostly a spot up 3pt shooter. Don't get me wrong he is a good piece. Hawkins has a better set of skills if he could put it togetherOf course Jake will be invited back. Are you nuts? He was the third best player as they also had Bam Harmon who went to Rhode Island.IIRC Deron was not the top recruit on his high school in the Colony. Wright who went to IU was the McDonalds All American
Basketball recruiting was different 20 years ago
That's not true. He was a top 50 player being recruited by almost everyone. He was the 2 out of high school, and the 1 out of college. He was the third best player as they also had Bam Harmon who went to Rhode Island.
It was true as I went to every game that year since Illinois was recruiting DW.That's not true. He was a top 50 player being recruited by almost everyone. He was the 2 out of high school, and the 1 out of college.

well then the high school scouts and college coaches didn't agree with you because Harmon is nowhere to be found in the RSCI top 100 while Deron was 48, and Wright was 12.It was true as I went to every game that year since Illinois was recruiting DW.
Hey now. This is the internet! Let's not let facts and objective reality contradict the hazy recollections of someone who watched some games over two decades ago.well then the high school scouts and college coaches didn't agree with you because Harmon is nowhere to be found in the RSCI top 100 while Deron was 48, and Wright was 12.
Also in the only article I could find on Harmon, by Rivals, he was described as the 3rd guard after Williams and Wright, and Deron averaged more points, assists, and rebounds a game as a Sr, and of course had much better college offers. But other than that.

Simple google search...he was the one in high school (or being recruited as a 1) and espn rankings - Bracey Wright 16th , Deron 100...ESPN rankingsThat's not true. He was a top 50 player being recruited by almost everyone. He was the 2 out of high school, and the 1 out of college.
Thanks for giving us additional proof that when it comes to recruiting rankings ESPN blows.Simple google search...he was the one in high school (or being recruited as a 1) and espn rankings - Bracey Wright 16th , Deron 100...ESPN rankings

I like it. Filing the end of the bench with high IQ players is a great idea. Will help elevate the team
I believe Deron wanted to go to North Carolina, but did not receive an offer so he chose Illinois. I believe I saw that on BTN.Thanks for giving us additional proof that when it comes to recruiting rankings ESPN blows.
From what I remember, Georgia Tech was also his 2nd choice but they took Jarrett Jack.I believe Deron wanted to go to North Carolina, but did not receive an offer so he chose Illinois. I believe I saw that on BTN.
You are correct. I found this from the Salt Lake Tribune: "After having proved he could play, he wanted to go to North Carolina, but the Tar Heels told him he could come only if Raymond Felton didn't. When he turned to Georgia Tech, coaches there blew him off for Jarrett Jack."From what I remember, Georgia Tech was also his 2nd choice but they took Jarrett Jack.
