I can see it. We’re still going to be a pretty good team next year and the year after. Because of RJ

Total S&^) show second half today. Really no excuse for it with our experience. Looks like it is past time to start getting way more minutes for RJ. I've been of the opinion since Mizzou game he has had way too little playing time. And when the threes are not falling it is incumbent on Underwood to either call a TO or somehow communicate to our super seniors that it is time to pound down low to Kofi especially against a team with no answer to him which is basically any team besides Arizona or Purdue. I don't get it. We better lock in or it's gonna be a disappointing March once again with a wasted year with another All American player.
Way to enjoy a win, man. And first place… 🙄

Intensity is our failing sometimes; start of games, start of second halves, stretches in games where we lead by too much.

We got really sloppy and casual in the second half and turnovers almost cost us the game.

Thoughts:

1) Got to avoid those stretches of what honestly seem like mental lapses. It's one thing to go cold while the other team gets hot, but some of those TOs were simply us not being in the right spot mentally. For those of us who have played ANY sports (I only ever played HS, myself!), we all know exactly what this feels like. There are times when your muscles are loose, you feel like you're faster/stronger/more flexible and you don't spend much time "thinking" about the play currently going on ... there are other times/games where you just feel off, stiff, slow, etc. and you get in your own head. We have to find a better way to weather that storm when it inevitably comes from time to time.

2) I have to say, BTN's game presentation is awesome. From the scoreboard to the noise level distribution to the announcers, it is head and shoulders above ESPN. I'd rather be on ESPN for the views and stuff, but man ... BTN is a much better viewing experience.

3) RJ is going to be special. I'm NOT looking too far ahead, but I think we can be pretty damn good next year, too - definitely a Tournament team and probably top 25 again. That is how true programs are built, by reBUILDing. Props to the staff.

4) We better be ready to go in Piscataway. That is arguably the hardest place to play in the conference (only other contenders, in my mind, are Purdue, Illinois and MSU), and they are red hot. We actually match up well with them, IMO, but we will need a good shooting night with great defense.

5) GLAD TO GET THE WIN! All that matters at this point, right?? We sit alone in first place, and we are moving onto the next one!

If I have one consistent criticism of BU it’s waiting way too long to call a timeout to stop a big run. Especially since we seem to give one up almost every game

The most startling thing today was DMW not hustling late in the 2nd half. Saw him stand and watch on what should have been a contested rebound, then jog back on D while his man drove to the rim and scored (to bring them within 1, I believe). Props to BU for pulling him right then and getting Melendez in for the rest of the game.

I agree. This whole lack of game awareness BS is really starting to tee me off. How do you get 15 TO's in the 2nd half? By force feeding into a swarming D and not driving to the hoop and looking for Kofi or the hoop. Trent has to take charge. When we are tight, the 3's will not fall, and we have to recognize that.

More than a couple of guys on cruise control in the second. BU will be all over that.

We feel asleep at the wheel but luckily no damage was done.

Need to get Curbelo right as we need him in late game situations
Probably an unpopular opinion but Curbelo is a liability right now in my opinion. He doesn’t value the ball and is so turnover prone

Melendez was fantastic. I actually don’t understand why Underwood took him out midway thru the second half. He was playing great

Played well in first half. Then came out second half and let up and got sloppy. Once it started going south we couldn't get it stopped. NW did play better in second half. Thank God for RJ and Kofi getting some baskets late to finish it out.
