I'll just say this about Curbelo......anyone here with a questionable heart better shape up, or get some extra meds for next year. That kid is going to make us jump off the couch more than any other player we've ever watched. Good and bad.

It's like handing the keys to our new Subaru to Travis Pastrana.

Hang. On.
(y)The creative process is inevitably messy.

Pru, I thought Fran was pretty classy last night post game. Nothing would make me happier than to talk !!!! on the guy, but he was complimentary of the staff, players, and program.
Every hoops season there are some B1G teams that grow on me. Effort and punching up get my attention. Rutgers definitely grew on me, and I hate to say it, Iowa has too. Nebraska and Penn State are going to be tough outs in the BTT. Teams that turn around poor starts and put together wins are fun to watch.
My birthday is 04/03. I've asked for the same thing since 1989, just haven't gotten it yet. Hope it's coming soon.
4/5 is mine, and I haven't blown out the candles without making the very same wish.

A tribute to DMW's five seasons with us: the final sequence last night. Keegan Murray blind screen knocks him to the floor. He pops right up in time to guard Keegan, then pivots to lunge toward the corner and get a hand in Kris Murray's face on the final shot that didn't drop.

Goosebumps.

Was at the game with my brother and two of my longtime best friends. We decided to just bask in the glory of the court storm from above rather than participate in it. Will go up on the top shelf among my fondest sports memories.

Finally caught up on this thread and I can't add anything that you fine people havent said already. We took an unconventional route to get here but we, Illini Nation, deserve this. Couldn't have happened to a better team or a better fanbase. My heart is happy.

May this be our springboard.

I waited until now to post here to let the tears clear from my eyes. As a second generation Illini I am so proud of the grit and determination of this team. They faced adversity all year long and came out on top of the conference. Unbelievable. We are in great hands with Coach Underwood and I look forward to more great things ahead (including this year). Who knows, maybe I WILL live long enough to see a national championship. Lastly, my thanks to all those seniors who will be leaving the team - they took a chance on Illinois when we were not good and helped build the team into champions.

GO ILLINI :illinois:

FTR, that was our fourth straight sold out game, a streak we haven't attained since the 2014 season. If not for a ridiculous winter storm vs. #11 Wisconsin (where we came up just short at 14,860 ... honestly impressive!), we would have had a streak of 8 games. That would be the longest since 2008, when the whole season was sold out. Props to our fans!!

The around the back layup was a no no no YES YOU MAGNIFICENT BEAST moment...
And he had a moment with a little 3 year old during warmups that was pretty magical and had all of us cheering like we'd already won. Something people don't realize is how big of a heart he's shown every time I've encountered him before and after games. I love that kid. Very proud he's part of the culture of our program, talent on the court aside.

The assembly hall is rocking again. Shame we could not pull out the games vs AZ, Purdue and OSU but it takes time.

Winning plays. Just winning plays. Perfect defense to a perfect offensive possession. From the negate by CoHawk on the initial penetration, the quick support double by RJ followed by aggressively getting back to his man to negate the first option out of the passback, followed by Damonte getting back up to his feet after being crushed by the Murray screen, to Kofi seeing Damonte hit the ground and making the right decision to closeout to deny Keegan's shot, to Damonte hustling to close out on Kyler making that 3 not as easy as it originally appeared, to RJ and Trent crashing the board for that rebound, to Kofi running from past the 3pt line as soon as the shot went up, jumping over 2 Iowa players, and just getting enough of his fingertips on the ball to hit it against the rim away from the Iowa defenders, to still not giving up on it and knocking that carom with his offhand away from Tony Perkins, to Trent outworking and outhustling Keegan Murray to get that loose ball and seal it.

Iowa played perfect offense (illegal screen aside, but it's not like refs call that foul). Illinois played as perfect defense and rebounding as they could. When people ask what the difference is between winning and losing, it's the effort shown in this possession. Illinois' effort won it for them.

Yes. I was going to note CoHawk sealing off Perkins' penetration in the lane. Just textbook. But the real attraction to me is Damonte throwing himself all over the place from the top of the arc to the corner to prevent a basket.

Absolutely. If you rewatch the play in its entirety also look at the area Kofi covered on the court after the ball was kicked out to Keegan. Perkins was in perfect position to get that rebound. You could see in his face he knew he was going to tap it in to send it to overtime, only for Kofi to come out of absolute nowhere and deny him getting his hands on the ball twice in under a second, once with each hand. Team basketball. So much effort shown on that play by every single player on the court. Beautiful to watch. Been on loop for me much of the morning.

Still can't believe we're B10 champs. While I thought there was a chance Nebraska could pull an upset as it was as much a trap game for Wisconsin as Penn State was to us, I'll admit once McGowens was ruled out of the Wisconsin game, I pretty much accepted it wouldn't happen. To go from there to here in a 24hr period, it's just amazing. Amazing. Where's Giorgi at?

1.) That blind screen also looks to be an illegal screen.
2.) Man I thought Murray had that thing buried! What…A….Finish.

And give credit for Kofi gambling to leave his man to prevent Keegan's shot. Keegan is more likely to make that on than his brother and it would have given them another second or so to get a tip in if he missed.

Gotta believe there are a handful, if not all, of these highly rated recruits that experienced tonight’s BIG championship victory that will now have a heavy lean to the beloved!!!!!
No visit these kids will ever make to another school can come remotely close to the experience they had tonight.
What a magnificence win for an amazing team, that we will will benefit from for years to come.
In attendance tonight:
Ty Rodgers ('22), Morez Johnson ('24), James Brown ('24), Nojus Indrusaitis('24), Devin Royal ('23), Cooper Koch ('24), Ty Pence ('23), Caden Wilkins ('24), Spencer Elliott ('23), Kanon Catchings ('24)
Hold on. There were 10 recruits there last night? 10!?
