Brad Underwood has never advanced beyond the 1st weekend. IMO, if this veteran Illini roster doesn’t play to seed and advance, this season will be viewed as a great disappointment. Great opportunity on Sunday. Go Illini.

Absolutely wrong.

Beat Iowa twice, scUM twice, won Bragging Rights vs Miznoz.....won regular season B1G.

This was a successful season.

"The NCAA Tourney is all that matters"....is a terrible way to look at our team. Or any team.

It will be disappointing not to advance...but it's not a reflection on the entire season.

Hot take: we played really well after the first 7 minutes.

The obvious: we were 8 point favorites, but won the last 33 minutes by 16

Despite the 7-0 start, we held them to 20 in the second half.

We got open looks and got to the line.

Shots just didn’t go in.

Ok, our defensive boards were crap. But otherwise, a lot better than it looked.

Time for a little bourbon.

100%. I don't view last season as a disappointment either. The Tourney was a disappointment, sure. But taken on the whole, it was a successful season, and I think we can say the same about this one if we lose. Also, we're a 4 seed. A 4 seed losing in the 2nd round is maybe a slightly below average result, not some huge disappointment.

Because they literally take the other teams lunch money.

The timeouts in the tourney are extended so rest isn't as much of an issue. They played unreal defense in several stretches in this game. It's the ONLY reason we won.

You just have no way of knowing how the freshmen are going to defend in their first tourney experience against older very experienced guards.
You’ll never know unless you play them- could have used RJ.

Buckeyes-54 pts. Illini-54 pts. Both win. Welcome to March Madness!

Would love to see RJ and to a lesser extent Goode get some tic...but it's pretty obvious that BU doesn't trust the young guys.

I just got home from the bar watching the game with a DC Illini compadre. We sat for a good 20 minutes afterward trying to fathom how we won.

The cliché is that defense wins championships. Defense wins tourney games, period. It was the only reason we were even within shouting distance of pulling this one out.

DMFW has been joined, and will ultimately be succeeded by, CFH. Just savage and relentless on that final defensive stand in the way DMFW was flying all over the place in the final five seconds v. Iowa.

It just feels good to be on the surviving side of one of these. Bring on Sunday. I'm pumped. Gonna be as hard to get to sleep tonight from euphoria as it was Thursday February 24 from despair after OSU. :illinois: ❤️ :chief::alma-mater::ah:
