Ask any UNC fan, Caleb Love absolutely does not have that kind of personality. He can score in bunches but his effort and heart have been under question all year. Don’t know what rumors you’ve heard but its gotta be about 5% chance he’d come here, with the remainder being Mizzou or going pro.
I follow UNC pretty closely. I'd take Love in a heartbeat. He plays 34 MPG, averages nearly 16 PPG, is a GREAT FT shooter, and gets over 1 SPG. He'd be an instant-impact star on Illinois. And the rumors I've heard don't mention Miznoz at all. Just FYI. I could see him going pro, but he ain't ready (and I think he knows it). JMHO.

Well you never know with 18 year old kids who will get bored of Papa Dels and La Bamba and decide to transfer. 700 kids in transfer portal is crazy.

however Brad has show great ability to adapt to change

In past 5 years the only transfers that really hurt were Alan Griffin and Adam Miller. Other notables were Mark Smith. Mike Finke

We have lost eight players that never qualified or saw significant playing time.
Matic Vesel
George Sambolin
Samba Kane
Tevian Jones
Tejon Lucas
Anthony Higgs (never played)
Jermain Hamlin
Edgar Padilla

So 14 players in 5 years or~ 3 per year

History predicts 3 transfers
1 probable starter who will hurt losing
2 players who never see significant playing time

Regardless of who transfers we should be in good shape for 2022/3 season
- (3) returning who played significant - Andre, Coleman RJ
- (2) returning who should be improved but did not play significant - Pods, Luke
- (4) new recruits - Sencire, Jayden, Ty, Dainja
- (?) transfer portal
- (3) sudden improvement - BBV, Omar, Brandon. I remember Kevin Turner, Chris Gandy, Brian Johnson Quentin Richardson among other who had breakout senior years

Yeah but we're already over our scholarship number by two with the class coming in. That means for 4 to come in, 6 would need to leave. That's....a lot.
For sure. But it's not unique to our program. It's happening everywhere, and it makes sense when you have a pool of 1,000 + players to fill in your team's weaknesses.

Did I miss the Caleb Love talk, or was it scrubbed?
There were rumors of him transferring last year. I suppose he could have given Davis a chance and is now saying no I want to transfer too.

He is my guess as well, because I'm trying to figure out who would be a big name that would get everyone excited that made any sense. Love is from St. Louis so perhaps he wants to get back closer to home and knew pretty early into the Davis regime he didn't like it and wanted out.

I can't think of any other person that fits the veiled descriptions and makes any sense, besides the obvious names that have already been shot down. Adam Miller also makes sense, and while I'd be very happy to have him back, he wouldn't be considered a big splash for me.

I really think people are underestimating the impact the concussion and missing all time during the season had on Belo. He had some bright spots, but didn't look like the same player he was last year.

What about the impact of the team having to adjust style of play, or maybe adjust BACK, to the slower 3's-and-Post system that works for Trent/Plummer/Grandison/Kofi scorers we had. Andre and Trent are very different players in their approach and skill sets -- it can't be easy for the rest of the team to flip back and forth, or to practice in both styles. Once Curbelo was out, the team took a little while to get comfortable with the slower pace, 3-man-weave, frankly-pretty-poor entry pass offense. Curbelo comes back, and it's chaos for a bit as we try to weave him back in. And ultimately, it looked like Brad played the system that had won games this season, which isn't where Andre thrives.

Maybe this is making up a story to fit what I saw, but the changing personnel can't be great. Next season, with Andre from the beginning (we hope), and some athletic guards coming in, perhaps we move back to that faster pace, driving-based offense that we thought we'd see more of this year.

I don't know how you sports fan, but getting attached is kind of part of it for me. It's gonna hurt a little, even if it's for the best.
I’m shifting my focus more toward the team as opposed to individual players. With NIL and the portal being what they are, you are going to have more turnover, even unexpected. Kids leave campus and people with other agendas get in their ear.

Fortunately I think we are a big-time enough program that we usually won’t have to worry about our best player(s) transferring, but at the end of the day there are only 5 starting spots and nobody likes coming off the bench.

Orange Krush Class of 2013
Rochester, MN
Additional

G:Epps,Harris,Podz
Wings/F: Goode, RJ, Ty
C;Kofi,Dainja, Payne(maybe)

Add; Skyy, Transfer 4, Transfer Guard. then spot for 1 more.

For those keeping track at home, I think this would mean losing:
Lieb
BBV
Curbelo
Hutch (or is he out of years already?)
Hawkins
and no extra year for Grandison

This is fun! I'll guess Skyy, Love, Sparks (Ball St.), and JFL -- IF (big if) Illinois takes that many newcomers in addition to the 2022-23 frosh.

That makes it pretty clear

Don't see Curbelo, Hawkins, BBV, Lieb

I anticipate us adding three guards and a forward from now until the start of the season. Imo 4-5 more additions still on the way regardless of Kofi's decision

Seems kinda heavy even if the staff could get all their wants.

Skyy
Missou big
Utah valley big
Mystery guard

I would say the big situation is highly dependent on Kofi. Even if you assume 1-2 transfer out you are not getting the Utah Valley guy or anyone on that level with Kof back. I would put the over under at 3.5. I could see up to 5 (and I think that is a bit of a stretch) going out from the current roster which caps the inbound at 4 because the staff wants to keep one open for the midseason transfer market.

My hope for next season returning players

- Andre healthy, less hero ball, hit the mid range jumper, less turnovers 15 ppg 10 apg 6 rpg
- RJ 30 mpg - translates to 12 ppg 6 rbg
- Coleman, cut out silly fouls, play loose, take it to the hoop, hit the mid range jumper 12 ppg 8 rpb
- Luke get stronger and faster - 9 ppg 5 rpg
- Omar - develop one goto post move or med range jumper, higher motor 6 ppg 6 rpg
- Pods - replace Alphonso as our instant offense 8 ppg

Lol are 3 of those players even going to be here next year?
