I suppose, but with the regime change @ UNC and the coming one at Duke, it would have been nice for some uncertainty to creep in... Now Davis can already point to his own Final 4, and Scheyer will be inheriting a ton of momentum.
That will occur if regardless if they don't win with these new coaches. UNC didn't exactly have a banner year. Getting hot in the tournament doesn't change that.
We've seen Penny and Juwan squander and abundance of talent. We've seen Calipari do very little with a lot. If the new coaches at Duke and UNC can't consistently win big, it will start to tarnish their brand.
I still think college sports is forever changed with NIL. It will come down to who can get the most money into players hands. Texas A&M had a monster football class then you hear that they lined up $8 million to a high school QB that has never attended a college practice. The same thing will happen in basketball perhaps worse because there are fewer kids to spread the money to. We already lost Dawson Garcia to a higher offer last year.
I just think college sports will basically now go through free agency every summer and while school reputation really helps, money will be the determining factor in many recruitments. Traditional recruiting will only come into play when the money is pretty similar.
