I'm grateful for what Belo gave us and very sad that he suffered through all he did this past season. It is what it is. I wish him the best and will cherish the memories of the magic he showed us in flashes. Hard to think of an Illini underdog memory to compete with him coming off the bench cold after two months out and playing the way he did against Purdue on MLK Day.

I was a huge supporter of his but also understand that we'll be just fine without him. Am simply bummed that we won't get to see him mature and run the offense like a wizard.

I’m a Curbelo believer. I know not all in this forum are. I don’t think this is one of those “test the waters and come back” ala Kofi last year. But “My time here at UIUC has come to an end” seems pretty final.

I think things would have been different if he hadn’t gotten injured. He wouldn’t have rode the bench as much. He wouldn’t have faced as much public scrutiny. But injuries happen, and especially long lasting ones, are tougher than all heck.

I fear this is one of those things where we see him go and flourish on another team, and we are left with a case of the “what-could-have-beens”. Hopefully a school that we don’t play or see a lot. But he is going to be a star PG somewhere else and I guess in the end, good for him.

I’ll miss El mago

I can't believe how indifferent I am about a transfer this huge. Last year was amazing, and his good moments were so memorable. But after this year it just felt so hard to believe he was going to consistently play to his potential.

No ill will. He will probably do great things wherever he goes. But I have faith in the staff to replace him with players that will be a lot less frustrating.

That’s an All-Big Ten player (in a fully healthy season) we just lost. Things went south this year and as others have said, this is for the best for all at this time. Such a shame-I have been Belo’s number one fan since Day 1. He will absolutely light it up in the right fit next. He’s a great kid-best of luck to him!
