Is it already common knowledge that we lost Terry Hawthorne to Arkansas? Right when STL/ESL is now recruitable!!!

Wow. Lol. I wonder why he left? Kind of a gut punch to our efforts down there.
There’s a link between Odom and walters. Hope everyone good/ supportive through all this. Not sure who is on illinois staff/ why it couldn’t work out for this move? Best of luck.

So we banned ourselves from recruiting ESL for awhile just to have the guy move on? That sucks. Did it set us back considering we just got an ESL guy?

I’m guessing the recruiting ban was lifted after he left? (If it hadn’t already run it’s course)

He didn't do much for us in recruiting. Didn't play any part in us getting the ESL LB.
And this move locks Arkansas out of ESL for two years now, too, doesn't it? (not that they had a great impact there to begin with)

I know he wasn’t in a recruiting role, but presumably he was hired for the PR in that specific area no? Hopefully some fences have been mended regardless since it sounds like we have a decent chance with another guy or two down there. Patterson seems to be doing a good job there.

He wants to eventually be an on field coach. This spot is better for what he eventually wants to be.
Was there really no role for him on our on-field staff? Its not a disaster and we could always hire him down the road. Just seems like a shame.

To clarify analyst isn’t an on the field role either. But it’s a much better stepping stone to get there than an off the field recruiting role. Bret has his guys he likes as analysts so there wasn’t a spot for him there. And I don’t think you want him coaching DBs over Aaron Henry
