Hayden said differently in a recent Rivals interview with Cosgrove. It sounds like Cory and Hawthorne played a large role
Cory and Buh did the leg work.
Not doubting you just found it interesting with his interview on Rivals he named him by name as one of the reasons he committed and called him a legend.
No they didn't! The fact that Hawthorne is leaving will not change the outcome because it was discussed however, Hawthorne is the guy that brought Hayden to the staff! No need to spread incorrect information.

Title, any sense on the impact, if any, that this will have for UI recruiting ESL athletes? Frankly, I can see any of 3 scenarios
A) No impact
B) Negatively, as Terry could've played a solid role in recruiting those athletes
C) Positive, in that the ESL staff can see that BB's staff is doing good by one of their own and helping Terry to further his career
Is defensive quality control analyst considered an on the field coach? I didn't think they were allowed to directly coach kids during practice or games. I found an article from 2017 that talks about Auburn not being able to recruit players from a certain high school for 2 years because they hired the HS head coach as an analyst. Or is it only bc we hired him straight from ESL? Not sure how it works.
I get that it's been 2 years so wouldn't apply to Arkansas now, but say they hired him for his new position 2 years ago, would they have been banned from recruiting ESL?
Wish he could have taken Ben Millers open spot this year and given him a chance.
I believe it’s because we hired him directly from ESL. Whereas Arkansas hired him from us.
Regardless of how this happened, Congratulations Coach. Huge blow for us, IMO. Wow this really hurts! I was truly looking forward to Coach Hawthorne's progression with this staff.
Every football youman in ESL knows who Coach is. He's a legend in ESL. Carries a ton of credibility and respect as he should. Good luck to Coach and I hope to see him back home with us in the near future.
There will be some impact because the kids respect him. I’m sure BB will keep the momentum moving forward. CP is a household name as well so things will continue to be positive.
Terry Hawthorne is a solid young man and though he wasn't able to recruit (out of state) and in the trenches, with his passion and professional (x-perience), his hardworking attitude and being largely a mentor and player developer, he worked well with BRET and the staff. He had developed and thoroughly worked with some of the Midwest and Southern coaches to work succeed at the next level of coaching. He had an impact in defensive backs and strategically; that wisdom and positive instincts/skills will be carried on by a few of the players that are on the team. I will always respect him and hope he succeeds wherever he gets the best opportunity to match his ability and experience. GOD BLESS YOU TERRY and FAMILY.

I wish Coach Hawthorne nothing but the best. He will always be an important part of our football past and a respected Illini Man. I'm sure he understands that. Perhaps he will circle back to us as some have said. You will always be welcome in Champaign whether it be as a coach or simply a visitor.
Successful organizations should expect to lose key staff members from time to time. Terry will be missed but is not irreplaceble. I'm sure there are ways to continue our demonstrate our interest in St. Louis area players. Let's move on.
