Or a better comp him to Carsen Edwards.......but that doesn't fit the narrative.
I guess it fits your narrative. You go ahead and do the research. How many combo guards ranked in the 70’s have led their teams to a BIG championship as a true freshman PG? Now tell me how many incoming freshmen have had IL posters eager to replace established players only to disappoint?

I hope Epps is FANTASTIC. And if he is, guess who can play ten minutes a game backing him up. This isn’t Curbelo vs Epps for a roster spot. It’s Curbelo vs the 13th spot if you don’t take Curbelo back. And if your choice is “Not Curbelo”, it needs to be because his presence hurts other players, not because of his play. And I trust BU to make that call over any of us.

It's Curbelo vs. a Transfer from the Portal who is willing to come to Illinois. I think sometimes people sell these Grad Senior Point Guards that play in mid majors short. Sometimes the lack of size and length can be overcome by an intelligence and experience to recognize how to make the right play at the right time and not try and do too much.

I agree. Not expecting you to track my argument with CV back two pages, but I started with “only decline Curbelo if him staying prevents a transfer like TSJ or Ramey (and still I’d lean AC), or if him staying causes another valued member to leave. Not saying it’s 100% take. Just arguing with a poor take that AC’s sophomore struggles are a reason to cut bait.

Ummm. The "argument" had zero to do with cutting bait with Belo for his sophomore season challenges. My response was to the Mark Smith/Epps comp. I truly hope Belo is successful wherever he lands. But he dealt with more than just physical challenges this past season. The most important thing is he gets right and my personal opinion is its best for both parties if it's somewhere else. I wish him well but am excited to see what Mark Smith II can do ;)

I felt one of Underwood’s biggest strengths was the patience and trust he showed in Belo, which let the flashes of brilliance come out. But it got to a point where it looked like Belo desperately needed some coaching. Time and again he took on an entire set defense without once looking to pass. He forced up early shots that he could have gotten at any time in the shot clock, and didn’t initiate any sort of team offense. He took needless gambles on defense and regularly made lazy passes. I can appreciate the impact of injuries, but I was most disappointed by some of his decision making, especially because it seemed so fixable through coaching. Is the staff able to balance letting Belo “be himself” while also refining his decisions through coaching? Is Belo willing to take the coaching? If the answer to either of those two questions is no, then I don’t think there’s a fit back on the team. If the answers are yes, then I believe the consistency will come and the value will be great.

I just saw a presser with BU and it seemed like they are moving on...think it was from yesterday...just me but...I wish I knew what happened at halftime of the Houston game...

Only my take...coaching maybe is forgotten once into the play...just a guess...agree with you though.

yep when asked about the portal conversation with belo, he pretty much said he told him best of luck and said he fully accepts guys that want to leave. also basically said winning is hard and if you don't want to be here and be fully committed then go because there are plenty of guys that want to be here that they can bring in. said no hard feelings and they're here to support them and not see them fail

It was probably the concussion but i also wonder if teams just learned how to guard Belo this year. Teams clearly were daring him to score and limit his passing
