I forget which of you earlier said they liked the development. Maybe it was @LvilleILL

Seems to me that it's not without risk, but it's also a high reward situation if it works out.

I love watching Belo play, warts and all, so I would be thrilled if he is in fact coming back. Plus we really need an experienced ball handler with all the FR guards.

Benefit of the doubt goes to the kid for sure. It was a ROUGH year. It stands to reason that with all of the pieces in place and very few adjustments to personnel next year as the season moves on, Curbelo would be a guy that would benefit from that the most. Having extra primary ball handlers and lots of practice time together could take some pressure off of him. I thought he showed a lot more poise at the end of his Freshman year than almost all of last year. He also had another creator on the floor with him a lot in Ayo, so that certainly factors in. Maybe it could be successful with the evolution of RJ's game and what the freshman can contribute. It's a huge unknown that I believe our roster could handle. At the very least, I think he is a capable backup ball handler and excellent late game defender.

Wishful thinking on my part probably, but I want the kid to succeed and would welcome his return.

When i heard rumors yesterday about an Illini returning I was hoping it would be Grandison :/ but if its Belo hopefully he gets what he needs to get figured out

Let's calm the jets here. He supposedly scrimmaged with the team. I don't think there is any more smoke than that and that's maybe a teeny puff of smoke.
If I were AC, I'd take any opportunity to play against quality players... whether to kick off rust, stay in shape, or for fun. He's still friends with the team.
