here we go batman GIF

Buckle up....gonna be a crazy week
Should we be expecting more news other than ZZ and Kofi?

ZZ will definitely be a '23, and I think Morez ends up reclassing as well.
Definitely appear like the plan for the Clarks but is reclass always easy said than done? (seen lots of reclass rumors not coming to fruition.)

I think you could also make the argument

ZZ has skills and he knows how to use them. He’s like a manic mechanic and a master of sparks. The dude’s bad, he’s nationwide!

He’s flying’ high and he’s definitely at his best when they’ve got him under pressure. He can be a tough, rough boy. But he’s always a sharp dressed man.

So, give him all your lovin, Illini Nation.
The good ones gotsa, gotsa get paid.
We ain’t talkin’ just cheap $unglasses here…

Is there a particular reason he isn’t ranked on any services yet? Obviously it’s still very early for the 2024 class but I assumed he’d get evaluated because of his brother. Did he miss the AAU season or something?

Why not? If they have the grades to make it happen and it doesn’t impact our ‘23 class, get them on campus in a college S&C program, playing against their teammates in practice. There aren’t a lot of players leaving after ‘22-23, so the rotation will likely be pretty set for ‘23-24 anyway.
How many reclass players have excelled competing a year ahead of their graduating class? I'd prefer they hone their skills in HS and practice a little patience. I could *maybe* see ZZ doing it in case Skyy goes pro after two years. But Morez? No.

I feel like the Clark's basketball trainers see them more than their parents. These 2 have very mature bodies and mature games. I'd have no concerns of ZZ moving up.

Show me some examples of how this has turned out well. I think that's a fair ask.
For a kid that wants to get to the NBA and has the skills that make it possible, what is better for you, playing an extra year with inferior coaches and facilities or moving to the college level where everything is better?

For a college looking at a high talented kid, what is better getting him familiar with your system and in your training program, or sitting another year in high school?

There just has to be an understanding that Fr year is going to be a learning process.

How is it that Skyy is on an official but ZZ isn't. Did UI pay for the family's plane tickets except for ZZ? Are they picking up the food tab for everyone but ZZ? Semantically seems strange with brothers.
Yeah not sure how the logistics work financially, but pretty sure kids can't take officials until the fall of their junior year. Hence why ZZ is on an unofficial just because it can't legally be an OV yet.

Here are some examples that I've found. I'd say it's kind of hit or miss.

Andre Drummond (Connecticut)
Andrew Wiggins (Kansas)
Noah Vonleh (Indiana)
Wayne Selden Jr. (Kansas)
Nerlens Noel
Dakari Johnson
Karl-Anthony Towns
Jamal Murray
Isaac Humphries (last 5 all UK)
R.J. Barrett
Joey Baker
Marvin Bagley (Duke)

He's still a sophomore, technically. Sophomores can't take official visits while upperclassmen can. Since they're covering food for Skyy's family, presumably ZZ would be included. The Clark family is essentially getting a 2-for-1 here (as is Illinois).

I did a quick google search. Kinda interesting that Memphis provides a good and bad.

Jalen Duren pretty much rocked it. I'd love to have added just that single season to my team. (Obviously, that's stats. No clue on his locker room intangibles.)

Emoni Bates was a mixed bag and now in portal.

No clue on the respective ages of these guys.

If I'm a coach, I don't think I'd be encouraging reclassifications. I'd rather have an extra year of emotional maturity before he shows up. Would Mac Etienne have avoided some issues with an extra year in high school?

If a player is committed to it, you go with it. Like any other recruitment, it's fraught.

I did read that ZZ is only a year younger than Skyy, so unless Skyy is just extremely young reclassing could make a lot of sense for ZZ. Can come in, play a year with Skyy before he (hopefully) heads to the league and gets drafted. Likely wouldn't have massive playing time expectations freshman year either.

How could anyone really actually think that ZZ reclassing and thus getting Fletched and practicing/playing with our group next year is a negative thing?

If he has the same work ethic and attitude I've seen from his brother......this is beyond a good thing.

So, that would be like, you know....a great thing.

I don't know all of the compliance details but since ZZ is a prospective student-athlete, I believe he has to take an "unofficial visit" even though he counts as part of Skyy's OV group.

Seems like ZZ is a family member and thus eligible for the normal hospitality and can still hang onto his own official for later.

Not saying I agree with it - but I can understand people feeling that way. Not everyone is ready to make the jump early. They may not physically be developed to make the jump either. A bit more time in High School doesn't hurt always

Sure, there are some cases that have been pointed out....but in this particular case...it seems like it's not really a concern.
