Much love to Kofi, would have loved to seen him stay but to borrow from a Loyalty luminary's preferred bastion of truth...

Glad it’s official and hopefully we can all just wish him the best. Thank you Kofi, for choosing the Illini and helping put Illinois basketball back on the national stage. #IlliniForever

Gonna miss Kofi... you simply can't replace a guy like him. He and Ayo both meant so much to changing the trajectory of the program.

I am intrigued to see how this team plays without him. I guess the up-tempo style may be here.
You guess? It is here and we will roll!

I have another day of meetings that don't allow phones or laptops. That means, knowing that I can see the news whenever it drops, I will have an easier time putting it out of my mind.

...in theory.

Honestly, if he goes pro, I will be nothing but happy for him. If he stays, I will be super happy for us but feel a little bad for him since his dream is to play pro ball. The only way I will come away upset is if he were to enter the portal again, though I don't think that's going to happen.
Did you spend the night with Pru and start today’s festivities a little early??

Disagree. We are a top 15 team without him. We are a top 5 team with him.

I dont know what we are. I'm in wait and see mode. We really don't know what we have in Dain or even how many additions or even subtractions there may be to our roster still. We are definitely going to miss the big fella. Let's add a quality mobile big and some more shooters.

Best of luck to Kofi! I have to admit I'm a little nervous because BU has been able to rely on him to hold down the middle through his whole successful run here. I'm hopeful there's enough talent and coaching chops to overcome that but everything is so much easier with an All-American manning the paint.

I have an authoritative source, backed by Elon Musk, that says Kofi goes pro. You are welcome.

I posted that literally within a couple minutes of the announcement. He probably announced it while I was typing that post but before I clicked "Post reply."

I agree with you....but not sure the pollsters will have us ranked that high preseason...they will see what we've lost (Frazier, Plum, Williams, Kirby, Kofi) and will likely drop us down....still think we'll be in top 25 however.

I think a similar situation happened for Iowa with this guy.

It will be just fun for Illinois AND Kofi. I think we actually get better after seeing some recent video on Dainja. No disrespect at all towards Kofi. Once in a lifetime talent for college basketball.

Going to be fun!

I’m surprised by the decision, but happy Kofi was here to help bring the program back to relevance. I wonder if Kofi was just done with college life so the NIL money wasn’t as big of a decision maker for himself. Best big man in Illini history
