OMG!! I just read that Keion Brooks entered the portal. This has to be him, right??? Right??? He's coming to fill the spot that was reserved for Bryce Hopkins. That has to be it

When I was there in the early 2010s there was the entrance which was led into a long and skinny section with the bar, which then wrapped around to another area which had the downstairs entrance and the kitchen area where you ordered. There was then another additional space further to the right that may be the supposed second expansion.
Our crew went to Murphy’s last September and October as we have every year since we graduated. As undergrads in the early ‘70’s, we never went there because they only allowed 21 and over in. Still has great food. The mushroom Swiss burger is still delicious as are the fries. The old thin section to the left as one enters is still the same, with carved tables in the back, leading to a downstairs with pool tables, and the section to the right doubles the space. There are even garage door windows now on the front of the building that open up to the sidewalk. Great place to celebrate :illinois:victories and newly committed recruits.

Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

Read this article earlier today when the Nance talk got fired up: https://www.insidenu.com/2022/3/12/...xpert-ben-pfiefer-on-northwesterns-pete-nance. Seems like Nance is nice player but ceiling seems fairly low. Hawkins to me is a bit of a wild card but has a much higher ceiling. Not sure I would want to risk it with Hawkins unless it's a big-time upgrade.
Nance is a big time upgrade….40+% from 3, 23% d rebound rate(or close to that)

I don't think so. Nance shot 45 percent from 3. Hawk shot 23 and 29 the last two years. I don't see him ever being that productive offensively. Nance is better than Hawk now but I do hope you are right about Hawk getting better.
Nancy has played four years of college ball already. Right now, he's better than Hawk. But I think Hawk can get there. May never shoot 45% from 3 like Nance, but IMO he's a better rebounder already.

I think it's ridiculous that the two of them should be mutually exclusive. Right now, Hawk and Dainja are our only legitimate PF/Cs so we absolutely need to add someone. They can't play each 40 min/game. Heck, Dainja has only play 8 minutes of basketball in two years.

Not sure where you got low ceiling… He’s talking about him in terms of NBA skills.
I’ll put it this way. Hawkins’ ceiling is to be come a Pete Nance type player. A guy who can shoot, pass, facilitate, defend & hopefully have a shot at making a NBA roster. This is by no means a shot at Hawk. Pete is a very good player.

The real treat for me is seeing how the staff goes about fitting all the pieces together into the kind of team and cohesiveness we have seen the past three years. We should all know from having seen literally dozens of teams with loaded rosters fade into oblivion or run into an NCAA upset....and that has been front and center the past two years for the Michigan, Purdue, and the Illini. IF this roster can enter the final week of the B1G season with a chance to win the title...or make the Sweet Sixteen...it will have been yet another feather in the cap and have earned a spot in the BU Hall of Fame. And it won't be without my support every step of the way.

Nothing is more relevant to their success than Underwood's statement that he likes "old teams". We will watch them age quickly I hope.

I was there, waaaaay at the 🔝

Being on bourbon Street was a blast despite all the drunk LSU fans chanting “tiger bait” in your face every block
Agree 100%. It was a great trip, except for the game. As we’re walking into the Superdome there’s an Illini fan wearing an orange Illini flag as a cape chanting “Kurt Kittner… you can’t stop him”… turns out they could…

Yeah I know someone else pointed out how blessed we were for 3 years of not generally needing to go deep to our bench at the 5.
But it would be amazing to have 15 meaningful fouls to give at that spot.

That would seem to confirm that there were two rounds of expansion. When I was there, the grill was on the right as you walked in, and you ordered food just past it. After that was a short bar (still on the right), and then the back was seating. There was no wrap around, or downstairs. I don't think the place legally held 40 people, emphasis on legally.

(Confirmed by Spaceman Spiff in another response.)

I think that's very well put. Nance is a really good player right now. Hawkins, you hope, gets to that level in a couple years.
