Any thoughts that Evansville would be high on his list?
I mean he’s coached there before….guess it depends on if he wants to be a head coach and what Evansville has to offer salary wise and job wise….he was successful there as an assistant under Marty

Don't know what they can throw at the candidates, but this would also be a great stop for Powell. Maybe he can set his sights much higher.

In college I was working at a restaurant in Louisville down the street from a gym that hosted a ton of AAU tournaments. One summer there was a big event and a lot of coaches were in town and coming to our restaurant. Lickliter was a total jerk. I guess he didn't like it when I asked if he was an assistant at Iowa and not the head coach.

I also waited on Izzo and one of his assistants. As much of it pains me to say it, he was a super nice and personable guy. We talked about Illinois basketball and Weber for a bit. I think he genuinely liked Weber. Even though Weber was on his last leg Izzo had nothing but good things to say about "Bruce".

I met Harrington too, totally cool guy and several others, but seeing Lickliter get canned at Evansville reminded me of a couple of those stories.

Yeah Izzo liked Weber.....Knew he didn't have to worry about Illinois out recruiting him or us beating Sparty.

Does it have to be mutually exclusive? I’m sure he could like him as a person (great to grab drinks with, talk shop, etc…)

Bonus that it helped him with regards to recruiting Chicago with the fact that he’s a little awkward. We can’t all be Bill Self.

Does anybody else find it comic and a sign of his coaching abilities that Martelli does most of the talk shows in the Ann Arbor area instead of Juwan. I had an article pop up earlier on yahoo of Martelli talking with press about the Collins transfer decision...I know of zero other programs that operate this way. It's clear UM doesn't want Juwan speaking or being the face

Maybe Juan doesn't want to be bothered with it, and delegates to Martello. Who really cares?

this should allow you to read it

"And then we played a certain way that I had played at Oklahoma State and Stephen F. (Austin), and as we continued to get better players — Ayon Dosunmu, and we got Kofi (Cockburn) — we had to make some changes."
Boy, it’s a good thing we landed Ayon
