Based on CBs guessing Clark the S from FL with questionable track numbers
Oh. I didn't realize we possessed the advanced intel to truly know before the announcement.

Guess I can therefore stop holding my breath for a 5* QB or a 4* DE.

Don't worry, we'll get a top recruit one of these decades. Until then we'll have to "develop" these low 3* guys.

Girls? You mean collegiate women.

It’s possible he ran the race once and jumped once in a meet.

Anyway, running 11.37 isn’t slow. In Illinois class A, it automatically qualifies for state, and is .37 off class 3A.

Someone mentioned 60 time; curious about the time.

Long jump is bad.
No, high schools girls. The girl who won state in Texas ran 11.40. Multiple divisions had multiple girls under 11.5. 11.37 is slow, especially for DB speed. Most of those guys run sub 11 if not sub 10.8.

His 60 time was 7.31. Still not great.
I hope that you noticed this was 11.37 in the 100 METER dash....not too bad!
See above. His 11.37 would put him in a time trial to be 3rd JV 100 runner where I work.

I think he is referring to high school girls, not collegiate women. Clark is still in high school and there are high school girls with faster times.

In my mind, a solid coaching staff can take several 3 stars and turn them into 4 stars or even 5 stars before they leave college. Wisconsin and Iowa are very good at that. We have the coaching staff which can get the most out of our players.

I hate making this comparison, but that is exactly what Gary Pinkel did at mizzery and turned that mess around.

Why are we even having this debate? So he's not the next track star? Most high school girls aren't going to tackle a 6 foot + 190+ lb WR with nothing between them and the end zone.

This kid is the 120th ranked prospect in Florida. Considering how many top prospects come out of that state, I am not at all worried about the measurables. This kid is a good prospect, obviously is good in the classroom and is going to be a good college football player.

If your boys or girls can run faster than Clarke and tackle like him, then I'll be impressed. Otherwise, I'm not. He's not getting a track scholarship and doesn't deserve one. If you know your track athletes, you'll know most of them are built differently than D1 football players. That enables them to be swifter but they'd get slaughtered on the football field. When you get a commitment from a good football player and he has good track speed, that's a good thing - even if it's not a top track time. What are your track stars tackling stats? Welcome to the FamILLy Jaheim.

Had offers from Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. Pretty damn good from one point of view!
Saw a quote from him in a tweet (Piper’s if I remember correctly) in which he said education is important to him, and he plans on majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in sports management.

As to his track times, has anyone seen tape on him? Does he look slow on the field? Obviously Coach Henry sees things in this kid that he likes.

I have to strongly disagree with your assessment. Those times and distances are not even DII impressive. They cannot be correct. The shortest distance jumped in the Florida State meet was over 20'! And the slowest 100 was 11.02. Pretty much the same for the Illinois State finals. That 100 time would have gotten a 4th at the Spartan Classic, in which 2 Monticello kids went sub 11. Not trying to beat a dead horse but they have to be incorrect, I had 2 of my kids run D1 track and I've watched so much HS and college track to know that something is not right with those reported stats.

Running 11.37 in “state” is slow. I didn’t get the impression that was where he ran that. It isn’t slow for a normal meet. Like I said, it’s possible he didn’t run that frequently.

Now, simple math. 60 yards in 7.31 means he can run the remaining 50 yards (110 yards is 100 meters) in 4.06. Do you realize how fast that is? We all ran 50 yards for the fitness test so that should be meaningful.

So the numbers don’t add up. I have to assume they aren’t reliable for possible reason suggested or something else like getting out of the blocks slow.

We need more context.

What is his speed with pads. What is his acceleration. Don’t know too many 100 m runs in football

I agree with you need more info on those numbers

Wow. Stop the negative BS. If our coaches feel this kid can help the program, than welcome him to the family. Buy season tickets and fill the stadium.

Um, debating the validity of a 100m dash time and discussing the impact it may have on a commitment's future contributions in a defensive backfield is not "negative BS." It's called "being on a recruiting forum." No one has said the kid isn't welcome...
