Um, debating the validity of a 100m dash time and discussing the impact it may have on a commitment's future contributions in a defensive backfield is not "negative BS." It's called "being on a recruiting forum." No one has said the kid isn't welcome...

This. As to his track performance, suspect we're lacking some context.

No, high schools girls. The girl who won state in Texas ran 11.40. Multiple divisions had multiple girls under 11.5. 11.37 is slow, especially for DB speed. Most of those guys run sub 11 if not sub 10.8.

His 60 time was 7.31. Still not great.

See above. His 11.37 would put him in a time trial to be 3rd JV 100 runner where I work.
Devon Witherspoon ran a 11.29 in HS and I think he turned out alright on the field.

How many of those runners play football and are getting D1 scholarship offers?

Wow. Stop the negative BS. If our coaches feel this kid can help the program, than welcome him to the family. Buy season tickets and fill the stadium.
I do not get it. There is a huge difference between running the hundred and running with pads. How is his quickness to the ball? Does he have good technique? Track and Field athletes do not make for the best football players. It could be that he has not been given correct technique in Track. I trust this staff to find the right players to fit into this program.

That’s his PR numbers listed. My point was not to bash the kid or say he can’t play football or isn’t welcome. My point is that his objective measurement of his speed and explosion show cause for concern.

I agree that if the coaches want him, he’s a take. They know more about football than I do. I’m just saying he’s slower than I thought a DB recruit could and should be.

Anecdotal, but I’ve never had a DB or WR that runs track that runs slower than an 11. I’ve been doing the track thing almost as long as the basketball thing.

But welcome Mr. Clarke! Work your tail off and grab your spot!

Technique. Many things can impact track performance. 11.37 isn’t slow. Have any of you approached that time? I’d venture to guess most have not. Just saying.

And look at his improvement. His senior time should be around 11.0 if not faster. He has one more year, right?

16' 6" is terrible for long jump...would be a good standing long jump, maybe both events were done with pads on.....but 120th in state of Florida is nice....

We’re never going to agree on this so we should just put it to bed. If you ever have the opportunity, check out a track meet down south.

Yeah, I said that. But if you take off a foot and a half behind the scratch line it becomes less terrible

No need. I’m surprised the girls times have gotten so fast.

I bet he runs closer to 11 flat this year.
