Not a lot of spots left, with Bielema saying there were ~12-15 spots for this class. My guess is attrition will push that number to 15 being the floor. Just find a way to get at least three of the top five recruits left on the board (Hill, Elzy, Moore, Terek, & Karriem) and I'll be impressed with this class.

I know we had Jenner that went to med school. Have we ever had a football player go to vet school before? Welcome Calvin!
You're right about Kris Jenner, but in that case it (could have) worked against the football team. Jenner was assumed to be the heir apparent to when Tony Eason graduated, but chose to graduate and attend Oxford prior to Med school rather than come back for his Sr. year. The job fell to the unproven Jack Trudeau, and the rest is history.

Great job determining what the kid wants, education-wise. Ditto with getting the academic side to be engaged. Amazing things can happen when all the relevant parties are in sync.

One more thought: Kevin Kane is killing it
Yes he is "You Better Kill It" queue the tiktok videos...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Guessing Lott's a take and dunno about McKinley. Doesn't seem like we're leading for Elzy or Moore. In case it isn't obvious, I'd love to be wrong.
yeah I'm holding out hope for Elzy.
Optimist in me thinks our staff is awesome so why wouldn't he pick us over Cincy. Realist looks at their passing game vs ours last year and wonders why in the heck he would pick us over them. Think it'll improve under BL, but all we have to sell at this point is a vision....and playing time. could definitely offer playing time.

He gets in on the ground floor with BL's offense - we are a better school by far, much closer - can't remember the last (first?) time I saw any Cincy swag in Chicago. We get this ship turned around, these kids will be forever remembered...

I think we have a stable of RBs and a commitment to balance that will only help a WR's career in Champaign. I can't wait to see how this offense looks this fall and into the future. Recruiting some throwing talent in the QB room like we have been (Swanson, Michaeux PTO and DeVito) gonna help a ton, too.

Jenner had some potential. Needed to a better job of picking his receivers. He was recruited by UK to play round ball too. May even have committed at one point.

Curious: How are we stacking up with 2022 when it comes to securing Top 25 talent in the state of Illinois? Hopeful that we'll see year-over-year improvement.

Two good d linemen and a good d back. I can’t understand Univ Louisville football recruiting. They are knocking it out of the park. Hope we can hold onto Harkless.

Adidas NIL and a lot of donors. No pro team in a big enough city so they’re ready to be good in either sport. The RB they got is talented but might be another zach evans situation but they’re landing highly rated guys and will continue with NIL

Looks like we had 5 top 25 commits for class of 2022 from the Land of Lincoln. 7 top 30. All outside top 10, with most going to other B1G schools/mizNoz. 🤮
247 2022 state of illinois commits

For 2023, we have 4 of top 25, including #3 in state overall. 5/25 have not yet committed. Seems like progress.

If everything breaks right, Illinois could get three top 5 in-state prospects in 2023 (Feagin, Hill, Elzy) and four top 10 (Add Terek). That hasn't happened since 2007. There is noticeable progress with in-state recruiting. I am not sure much more can be accomplished on the recruiting trail until more progress is shown on the field. Get to a bowl + find success against Big Ten West opponents.

THIS would be year-over-year improvement........

It's sooooooo damned refreshing to have Bielema at the helm! He really talks/acts like a head football coach. Knowledgeable, upbeat and optimistic. A real people person.

Hopefully, Elzy comes aboard, and we can drag Terek away from Iowa. Wondering why they didn’t offer Barrett of St Charles. Gotta think Hill goes to Michigan, we can always hope.

More CBs this morning for guys visiting. Surprised to see them take these guys with how small the class will be personally
yeah it's interesting for sure. I wonder if the recent NCAA changes getting rid of the rule of adding 25 scholarships per class will push the staff to take more HS players this class? I don't know the inner workings, but seems to allow more versatility, so maybe they're counting on some more players transferring after the season and immediately replacing them through a combination of HS and portal players.
If they take Lott and Guinn, that would put us at 14. Total number will probably come down to who wants to come here. Guys like Hill and Elzy you take no matter the numbers and figure it out later.

Werner has been expecting 12-15 prep guys. We definitely will still be looking a transfers too. Must be expecting more transfers than we know about. Couple fringe NFL guys but won't be too many moving on early

Given the recent discussion regarding Jaheim Clarke's reported 11.37 100 meter time, I find it interesting that 247 reports that Moore posted 100 and 400 times of 11.55 and 51.43 as a Sophomore. IMO, this reinforces the idea that football speed isn't necessarily the same as track performance, but what do I know? Until they prove me wrong, I'll trust that BB and the coaching staff are recruiting players that (on average) can compete at this level, regardless of what some of the metrics might indicate.

Gonna be more than 14 (I'm smart, lol). Hill, Tobe and Karriem (please!) push us to 17 (math major).

After losing out on Tonielli (sp?), Guinn is a take (and Tank project).
