Let's play hypotheticals because I've already mailed it in for the work week. Illini make a deep run in the postseason with a regular or post season B1G championship. In that scenario, would we expect to lose Skyy, Coleman and RJ along with TSJ and Mayer? I'm mostly curious because even if that happens, we'd still have Epps, Rodgers, Goode and Dainja mixed in with some others that's still a top third big ten team heading into 2023-2024.
Hypothetically, if we lose all those guys to the NBA every single transfer will be begging to play for us.

This upcoming big ten season is going to be awesome from a general fans standpoint. I think you could make an argument for half the league to win the title, with some major assumptions of course.

I’m personally high on Rutgers. Just feels like it’s finally time for that team to make a leap even without Harper.
Rutgers also lost Geo Baker. That's a lot of offense to replace... Their best incoming recruits appear to be a couple 3 stars in the 200-300 range. Cliff, McConnell, and Mulcahey are good players, especially defensively. I'm just not sure how they plan to score...

With the B1G schedule we have, It's our title to lose.

I’d say it’s more realistic to see 2, maybe 3 guys from this team drafted next year.

Side note, when is the last time we have had 2 guys get drafted in the same year?

2006 with Augustine and Brown both going 2nd round. Prior year had Deron and Luther both going first round. And since those four '05 starters went in two drafts, we've had two players drafted total (Meyers Leonard and Ayo), so not much to show for the last 16 years.

I dont see Sky leaving until after a season with his brother, which would be good news for Illini fans lol. I believe ZZ mentioned it when he committed.

NBA drafts for potential not actual college performance --

Potential
7. Shaeden Sharpe - never played at KY
8. Daniels G League Ignite
11. Dieng - New Zealand
24. Beachamp - G league Ignite
27. Jovic - intl

Performance
Kofi 6'11" 1st team All American undrafted,
Ayo 6'4" 1st tam All American Bob Cousy award winner late 2nd round

Skyy does not have great athleticism. He does appear to have very good basketball ability and OK size. 6' 3". If he has a great freshman year he might go 2nd round.

First round guards from Illinois since 1970 -

Derek Harper 6'4" 2nd team AA 15 ppg drafted 11th
Kendall Gill 6' 5" , 1st team AA 20 ppg drafted 5th
Deron Williams 6'3", 2nd team AA 13 ppg drafted 3rd
Luther Head 6'3" 2nd team AA 16 ppg drafted 24th

All had great athleticism, size and basketball skills.

Sorry I missed it, available online or re airing sometime? How did it look, I have an old VHS copy somewhere but it probably looks like hell.
Check the BIG 10 Network each week to see what they will fill their time slots with. I've DVR'd a lot of the Illini classic games.

Second half of Illinois and Wisconsin for 2005 big ten championship about to begin on big ten network.

Always a good reminder that the offense stalled down the stretch and it was actually the defense that carried the team through most of the postseason.

The Bulls first round pick only averaged 8 PPG, as a Sophomore! But he came on strong at the end of the season, had an excellent game in the Pac-12 Championship against UCLA and was probably Arizona's best player in their loss to Houston. Went from "testing the waters" to first round pick after the Combine.

No kidding. I caught the last 10 minutes to be reminded that we went 1-11 from the field down the stretch. Dee was 0-8 in the game. Bet he was stoked they re-played that one. Lol

Edey shot 65% from the field last year and in all but I few of those games, the other team did not have Kofi. There are other ways to guard big guys and I'll trust Underwood to figure that out. Also, who do you picture Edey guarding on the other side, do you think he's quick enough to guard our guys and stay up with them in a full court game?
IMO Edey can be taken care of by making him run up and down the court. We have the roster to make that happen and he can't shoot 80% against us when he's on the bench recovering.

You belong at Illinois State if you think Skyy waits another season or two at illinois just to play with his brother if he already has a first round grade.

Well, currently he doesnt have a 1st round grade and I guess his brother should have committed to Illinois State since he is the one that said it. Not me. Im just posting what was said by ZZ and coming to a very possible scenario since Skyy isnt close to his potential since injury.
